This can only end badly....
And I want a front row seat and a bowl full of popcorn when it does.

Hopefully this will come at least close to the majesty that was the Dragon Ball movie.

Can't end any worse than the manga did.

There was really live action Naruto. It was called Beverly Hills Ninjas.

I admit our one (?) outing into a manga-to-Hollywood adaption bombed pretty badly but I really can't get into all the doom and gloom every time a project like this is announced. Naruto seems like it could be a fun adaption if it was in the right hands, though I don't know anything about the current cast to say if these are the right hands or not.
I hope they keep the characters Japanese though, this isnt quite like DBZ, Akira or Death Note where you can cheat and change the setting to New York.

Depends on if you count Edge of Tomorrow/All You Need is Kill, which was originally a light novel, then a manga by the illustrator of Death Note and Bakuman and then turned into a movie. Viz Pictures was involved in that production though so that might have been the difference.

Yeah, but Edge had Tom Cruise dying constantly and it was hilarious.
This...this is an option, right? This is like the Bleach movie being optioned before Kubo went full troll and the project evaporated, right? They cannot be serious.

We re-made oldboy so that's 2 since that was a manga first
And while Naruto may be the most popular in the West, I find it very difficult to adapt for the West.

So you too pushed Dragon Ball Evolution out of your thoughts.
That aside, if people want to push money to create what at best will be "ok" adaptations, but in reality will more than likely show off that there simply are not enough craps to give in such a work.
Pretty much the only way such an adaptation could work out is if they just start head first into the Zabuza arc with the original kid trio lead by kakashi and somehow skip establishing Leaf Village as that alone has too many cameos of "future characters" that it overly drags down a movie paced narrative.

Don't forget the two Guyver Movies or Fist of the North Star.
