Instead of making all this 'limited edition sake' they should just make a third season already. Well, there are some rumors going around saying that moyashimon will get a third season in 2017 but they are probably false.

I would be delighted if someone picked up Moyashimon here in the U.S. I don't recall ever hearing of other anime shows that was centered around agriculture.

The only other one I can think of was Silver Spoon, which was very agriculture based.

I did love Moyashimon, even though the second season was very different from the first it was still good. I even bought the two volumes of the manga Del Rey released back in the day.

The bacteria of Masayuki Ishikawa's Moyashimon manga and anime series found their perfect collaboration with Shunnōten brewery in Yamanashi. The ancient sake brewery was founded in 1790 under the name Yorozuya, but later changed it to Shunnōten in the 1930s.

Actually, the name of the company in question is still Yorozuya.

The official website of the brewery says:
Quote:
甲斐の銘酒 春鶯囀 しゅんのうてん の製造・販売 山梨県富士川町の萬屋醸造店

会社名 株式会社萬屋醸造店

http://www.shunnoten.co.jp/company

The name of the sake which the company had made had been a different name. Poet Yosano Akiko visited the company in 1933, and she composed a poem which had the term '春鶯囀 shunnōten', and the president of the company changed the old name of the sake to the new name '春鶯囀 Shunnōten'.

「春鶯囀」 (in this case, 'Shunnōden') is also the title of a gagaku piece. It is said that Gāozōng heard a bush warbler sing and he ordered a musician to make this piece.
'Shunnōden' was mentioned also in The Tale of Genji.

I don't know whether the Anime News Network staffer who wrote the article has already read The Tale of Genji in the original, though.

Speaking of Yosano Akiko and The Tale of Genji, Yosano Akiko translated The Tale of Genji into the modern Japanese language.

I wonder what happened to the manga. I mean we barely got anything. Had on the list for order and it just didn't happen.
