I don't imagine Natalie Portman will be too impressed with that representation.

If all goes well, they might consider producing a manga of Star Wars?

I had the reverse reaction, since I didn't know what "Ukiyo-e" was (I mean, if they'd just said "Ancient screen prints"), and for some reason, pictured Ranma's Ukyou in any of Leia's OT outfits. Smile

This definitely seems appropriate. Now, if we could get to an official Japanese anime version of Star Wars that had voices from the original trilogy, that would be nice.

I found the choice of Smetana's "The Moldau" as the background music to the video a bit out-of-place since it has little to do with either Japan or outer space. Then again, they probably didn't have to pay any licensing fees if the recording they chose was old enough. We certainly weren't going to hear any of John Williams's soundtracks.

While I think the "Star Wars" ukiyo-e prints are very beautiful, they're also a little odd. From my point of view,it's a bit much. I admit that's it's popular in Japan but this takes it to a new level of strangeness. And yes,I saw enurtsol's picture of a Japanese rice field decorated with "Star Wars" imagery which only proves my point.
