Well this is an interesting series. The fusion of the modern technology and military with fantasy is definitely something I think is thought provoking. I noticed that they removed some of the more mature elements which isn't really a surprise considering this does air on TV.

The latest episode introduced the most prominent characters and I'm glad to see them. So far, I think the show is on right track.

Edit: it seems like the system screwed up again with the article linking.

This fascist anime arrive just in time to see how Japanese government wipe its ass with article 9. Just watching to see how far they will go with this imperialistic panphlet with a moe sugar coat.

GATE has been a pleasant surprise for me. Theron sums up very well why the show's premise has potential to do something special.

I was originally drawn by the promotional art depicting the main characters. It is being animated by A-1 Pictures, and they are doing a very solid job so far. The visuals in GATE are not at Sword Art Online levels, but they are not very far from it.

I hope that GATE continues to be solid, and it ends up being a worthwhile show.

Not a bad show by any stretch of the imagination. Honestly at first I thought it'd be some sort of half added moe blob show with no resolution but it quickly proved me wrong as of this writing I've read about most of the chapters that came out after watching episode 3 and I have to say the plot gets real heavy later involving politics which I won't mention but I'd like to see how this all shapes up to see.

My only complaint so far is that it dumbed down the dragon fight and cut out some of the darker scenes. They're basically cutting out one of the biggest sides to Rory's character by removing some of the scenes.

I'm quite fond of the bright, vibrant visuals of the show. It's quite the treat to watch it.

Lol I was like this review is too on point and logical to be by anyone other than Theron and sure enough it was. It feels like he's the only one that just sticks to the basics and what people would want to know about a show and gives the ups and downs without resorting to click bait pot stirring or soapboxing and god knows there's a tremendous opportunity to do that with this one. I mean the jingoism got its mention as it should but hardly hijacked the article like Id expect it would for theother ones.

Wait so the first dragon fight was cut? And what scene did they cut from Rory?

I was expecting this anime to end in 1 cour (since it's already toned-down from the source material), but in 2? How are they even gonna pull that off, if it gets extremely gory, violent and the sex scenes play a major role later on?

Okay. They're airing it on the late-night block. But still, this doesn't make sense. Why are they cutting the R Rated scenes? I mean, the whole Rory scene and the dragon scene was a mess without the blood and the rape and now they're pushing to show the Red Dragon Arc and the Capital scenes without them as well?

Man... fudge this. I'm not gonna drop the anime but this is just dumb

Gate airs at 12:30 a.m. That's pretty late.

I've found this show rather mediocre thus far. Honestly if the JSDF just slaughters everyone then there isn't all that much tension. I thought the fantasy side would have more to it than just a bunch of dudes marching into mortar shots. I'll stick with it for now I guess but it's far down my priority watch list.

I'm mainly watching it because I love shows or stories about traveling to another world, that's what fantasy is all about to me. I'm really happy they've been exploring the world a bit and showing what you might do in the scenario.

this is a good series..

but after watching episode 3...so 3 episodes= 6 chapters?

they didn't show certain things in the anime...

especially the part when Rory Mercury wiped out the whole bandit gang..

the manga is seinen.. but i guess they toned it down to shounen for the anime.. by not including the mature contents of this series

i like vigilante series so the actions of Rory toward the banbits are totally justified in my book

for them not including it in the anime kind of ruined it for me..

**they didn't show much when the dragon attacked the convoy either.. Confused

for those who didn't read the manga.. once this anime series ends.. pick up the manga

at least you will be reading the uncensored version

Well, they were bound to tone it down somewhat. Still, I think that some of the sharper edges were there for more than just gratuitous violence. The ridiculously over-the-top scenes communicate viscerally a bunch of things that are now going to only be communicated intellectually (e.g. the fear that a lot of people on the empire side feel towards each other and towards the modern invaders). There's a huge gap between how empire folks respond when they have heard about the JSDF and those who have actually seen them in action, but if that violence is obscured, I don't know how clearly that gap can really be sold.

Also something to remember is that the anime is adapting the light novel content, not the manga. So just because things may have been different in the manga version may mean that it was the one who altered content. Either way, they're both alternate versions of the original source material.

You know...i keep hearing how it is bad they toned down the censors...but if u look at the bigger picture things could have been a lot worse and compared to most censors ...this is one of the more better censored.

Add in the variables...it is a series that is airing on TV and it needs to appeal to a wider general audience to get a bigger fan base....but if u add topics such as rape ....murder...etc...you are going to turn off a lot of people as well as focus on matter which are highly controversial and sensitive. so of course it is going to be toned down and censored..

but it could have been a lot worse.....imagine they add all of those scenes but be censored as hell with black and white images of light or skipped over entirely....at the very least they are still adding a lot of the action and some blood and violence....there have been series which had a lot of worsen censoring done to them ...that ruined the show completely. Such as Terraformers.....Tokyo Ghoul....Prison school that is also airing right now...is being ruined with the censorship it is suffering...so i am saying things could be a lot worse...and looke at all the above issues that a TV airing series had to endure.

After all that...GATE so far has been pretty spot on......the adaption going in smoothly and i like the animation and soundtrack this series is getting....So yes i am looking forward to watching more of it...this is my fav anime of the summer after all .. .Very Happy
