Another Gundam project? Nice. I hope they find a good director if it's an anime.

I'm just bracing myself for the inevitable fan division once more. It seems that every Gundam from SEED Destiny onward has has a boatload of controversy associated with it.

I don't care: I hope it is a sequel to, or taking place within the same era as, Gundam Reconguista in G. There are plenty of ways to go with the world it laid out, regardless of one's thoughts about its execution.

Big franchises have (sometimes many) fans that always complain about something…

Christ almightly give the franchise some freaking rest. I love that for whatever reasons involved, Kawamori/Satelight/et al. give Macross a few years between projects. It allows you focus purely on one thing at a time and really cherish it without feeling like there's five unrelated projects going on all at once, all of them varying levels at quality. I guess Gundam really is the only mecha franchise Sunrise can keep pushing, since VOTOMS is probably dead to them outside of random cheap OVAs, and all of the other 80s mecha other than Tomino's love affair with Dunbine got any real sequels.

I know. When I saw the G I got really excited, but it's probably another AU.

Stop stop stop. Gundam is an enormous metafranchise. Sunrise is never going to stop making more Gundam (until the plastic models sell no more that is). They have Origin for the UC taliban fans, they have other series for modern audiences etc... If you enjoy watching Origin good for you. Why do you care if Sunrise makes other series catering to people that don't give a shit about the UC ? Does it hurt your ego or what ? Sunrise can and does market quite nicely all the Gundams out there (including but not limited to anime).
Me, I'm hoping Sunrise will give us a need Seed chapter. Of course it won't come to that and it will be some kind of Build Try Fighters project. Better than nothing I guess.

All things considered, the only real reason you've seen so many multiple projects lately is because they've been commemorating their 35th anniversary, with their 30th anniversary project, Unicorn, spilling into it. For the most part, there is usually a 3-4 year gap between TV series (the franchise's most major and traditional media component), maybe with a small OVA redux in between. Personally, I guess I consider that to be a good-sized length, and it was only until last year that two Gundam series have aired at the same time (GBF being a "true" Gundam series is debatable, but that's another day's argument…).

I'd love if they went full crazy and did a G Fighter prequel with the adventures of a young Master Asia fighting Tequila Gundam.

They hit rock bottom with Gundam Reconguista in G, so I hope it'll be better.

No more Gundam for a younger audience please, I want a real Gundam title like The Origin or Unicorn.

Nah. Rock bottom was AGE which, surprisingly, had better ideas and concepts than G-Reco! Sadly, it failed to capitalize on any of them. It did give me one of my favorite characters in Flit though. From savior to genocidal and senile old man, I absolutely loved Flit's character.
I'm actually getting a somewhat more fantastical feeling from the promo image. Could this be the full-blown fantasy Gundam I've been waiting for since SD Gundam Gaiden became a thing? I sure hope so.
