Even more strange characters to join the series...I'm fine with that.

I've got to say, those are some boring names, might as well have just named them Lamia, slime, etc... Someone didn't care much about naming characters, did they?
Example: (La)Miia, Suu(lime), Centorea (The Centaur...), (A)Rachnera.....
I'm sure the show will be great, and I'm guessing it seems more original to the Japanese, but it really feels like if we named a dog "Inu" for an American show, it's really not that original.....

That's kind of the point, being that they're all on puns on their species names .

You may need to remember that this was supposed to be just another obscure manga no one would heard about that probably would not last beyond the second compilation volume, so why crack your head looking for female names in some obscure european language?
But the series was a hit and it would be odd to start adding characters with well researched names, while the others kept their simple names.

Would you prefer they be named Mari and Sakura and Yukari and Aya?

I think it's part off the series' charm, actually. It's a light hearted, goofy series that doesn't take itself seriously. If the cheesy name puns made you smile or laugh, they did their jobs.

The only name I reacted to in the manga was Rachnera's, basically, for the same reason as the complaint above. Unlike Miia (which isn't an entirely uncommon name in Norway, albeit with just one 'i') or Meroune, which I didn't necessarily connect with their species offhand, Rachnera, however, was a bit more blatant. "Centorea" felt more like some kind of over-millitarized name to me, which made sense given the whole thing where the centaurs -- well, the female ones, at least -- all seems to be aspiring for knighthood.
But yeah, naming conventions isn't exactly Monster Musume's strongest suit. Some times it works, some times it's too blatantly named-by-species. But the manga is too much fun for me to waste any time shedding tears over it.

Catgirls aren't supposed to be monsters, but these are.

One's literally a zombie whose body parts can fall off at random.
One's an actual cyclops.
One is a giant Ogre.
One is a shape-shifiting doppelganger.
Not monsters how?
-------------------------------
I'm noticing that most of these VAs do not have many roles of note.
It seems a trend for every role in this whole show...

Look more human than monster. Monster High girls look even more monster. Add more monster parts or pick better monster that has more monster parts. Monsters supposed to make feel bit more uncomfortable than more-human like catgirls. That's what makes it funnier and different than catgirls.

It makes sense since they work for the government, therefore they need to interact with normal people, not scare them with their mere presence.
