I am about 3/4 of the way through with Comic Party and enjoying it, but there is a problem. I don't know if they explain it later or what... but why does Eimi Oba call Yuu Inagawa a panda? Is that really an insult and have meaning behind, but doesn't translate well or is it just something stupid she's saying. Please tell me or im gonna be SUPER PISSED!

I think it has something to do with her glasses looking like panda eyes, and pandas coming from the Kansai region. Like, saying "You're a hillbilly and you even look the part" basically.

...I think.

Well seeing Panda's come from a small region in China and the Kansai region is in Japan, I think you're rather confused myself Laughing

Thanks... I think I get it... I just finished off the series last night. It was good. I heard Comic Party Revolution wasn't as good though. Reminded me of Genshiken. Is there any other animes that are like this with the comic conventions and so on?

Nothing to do with her appearance, at all.... Eimi-chan-sama doesn't just call Inagawa Yuu a "panda", she calls her an "onsen panda". This is a reference to the fact that Inagawa's family runs an onsen (Japanese volcanic hot springs spa) and to this more or less iconic concept:

It's actually fairly polite, as good-natured insults go... She could have called Inagawa an "onsen saru" (hot springs monkey) instead, referring to these famous guys, the snow monkeys of Jigokudani Onsen:

I don't know how I missed your post, but that is awesome. Those monkeys... Those silly little monkeys. That's great. Thanks for all the info as well.

I thought Comic Party Revolution was all right, though it's more of a "Comic Party characters have zany adventures" series than a straight-up saga of a doujinshi author. And the panda thing? For the most part, I just chalked that up to Eimi being weird.
