not a single theater in my city... :/
closest one is 40-50 minutes away.. with gas going up.. I'll pass will watch it when it's on disc instead

Closest city is Orlando but rather not deal with a dub. Will probably grab it from work when they release the Blu-ray.

I think that they would test the release market with Ghibli films by having it open in at least 250-300 screens. That way they could make more money when it opens.

At least we had a choice of sub or dub in Adelaide (most screenings were subtitled, I saw it dubbed and enjoyed it).

I wonder if the box office from last week counts. The SIFF already ran the film - I caught it, it was pretty solid.

Saw it subbed the other night at the IFC Center. It was great! Very moving. They show it dubbed during the day and subbed in the evening.

Both showings at the SIFF were subbed - although the trailer was dubbed (and I didn't care much for the voices).

The listing for the Laemmle in Pasadena (http://www.laemmle.com/films/39270) indicates the film is subtitled, which presumably means at all showtimes. That's consistent at least - they showed Princess Kaguya subbed during daytime showings as well. |

It'll be in GR, MI on the 6th :) (GKids' list says the 5th but the 6th is the first day it's actually playing here). The theatre's been doing an Indie Film Series featuring different films each month, and I'm so glad I discovered it! I was able to see both Kaguya and Song of the Sea earlier this year. And Marnie made it to GR a lot sooner after opening than those two did, so I hope that means animation fans in the area are catching on :D

I stopped by the Nuart In LA. It was my first time at that theater but it is in very good condition and they have very yummy popcorn.
The first showing was the Dub and the night time showings are sub. I usually never want to see a dub unless it is a Disney or GKids presentation. As a nerd, and introvert, only child and someone who suffers from metal issues I found this film very familiar. It was not what I call a pleasant experience but it pays off big at the end for those who do not already know the story. The colors are beyond beautiful and the animation quality is high. I probably would never watch this movie again but I am so glad to have seen it as I was glad to have seen the Wind Rises. I very much hope this will not be the last we see from this studio. When Walt Disney died there was a time when it looked like they would close shop on animation to favor live action. Thankfully they did not and neither should Ghibli after the retirement of Miyazaki |
