yeah,western fandom has no idea about Teshima's popularity...waiting for ya all to catch up and realize how amazing he is.
(he was on the first place in character popularity poll before btw...) My fave is...surprise surprise!.......Teshima

There's a typo in the article title, the character's name is Makishima
Glad to see Makishima and Todou in high positions, their bromanship is amazing. It's particularly noteworthy since (manga) spoiler[Makishima and Toudou have both already graduated and haven't been really prominent in the manga for a while (afaik)], and neither of them did much in the last cour of the anime either |

he doesn't get that much screentime in the anime and he's not particularly special other than eating a lot and looking like a bear plus he doesnt have a well known voice actor either |

I'd add that he's nor particularly handsome (in the scheme of attractiveness that Watanabe's art style allows), apart from being a cool senpai, he doesn't really have much specialness going either, not any particular quirks or anything like that, and, most importantly, he's not really part of any popular pairing. It may sound fickle, but popular ships apparently can make a big difference for a character's popularity, especially in the fujoshi-ridden sports anime/manga world. |

@Hameyadea: I asked myself the same question about Iruka-sensei because he was very popular in Naruto polls, apparentlybecause fujoshis pair him with Kakashi in doujinshis,but that's not why Junta is so popular
spoiler[he becomes the captain after the third years graduate, thus he becomes a main character..] Frankly I'm more surprised about Makishima still being No1.. After all, has he been in the manga currently? |

What? Kentarou Itou is not well known, okay I get that he doesn't voice many pretty dudes but not well known, blasphemy 
How did he make in anyway? Manami and Imaizumi are not even in the top 10 but Akira "lizardman" Midousuji is huh. Guess that fangirls love to hear him say "kimoikimoi". |

i'm into seiyuu and he's not one of the popular ones for sure.  he's not that skilled either, compared to the ones who have a large range or can sing too

Kentaro Ito is famous and well-known, but he's definitely not the hottest thing now, he doesn't have that much range and his singing voice is terrible (although that duet he did with Okiayu Ryotaro as Renji and Byakuya in a Bleach CD was pretty beautiful, but mostly because Oki does have a pretty voice) besides, he hasn't been getting many big roles recently. Regardless, though, he should at least have some basic recognition amongst fujoshi considering he's in Junjou Romantica
