Well, that IS how they would pronounce it. Everyone's so quick to be Shonen Jump Weekly these days.

Only racist if another culture uses it. Seriously, language is not the gravest of things to mock. Maybe it even should be mocked, can't we laugh together? Was Lethal Weapon so abhorred when they did the dentist scene?

Wow... didn't see that one coming. That's actually pretty awesome. Wonder what other ones you guys have. Don't spoil it, please.

Did she add a Mr Yunioshi emoji or #Japanesesaythesilliestthings? That would have avoided the ambiguity around this storm in a piss-pot.

People on social media are so desperate to find things to be offended by. She probably just asked somebody over there how to say the title of her movie in Japanese.

I don't know anything about Lily James, but if I had to guess whether her intent was to mock Japanese people or an attempt at using what she believes to be the proper Japanese title of the movie, I'd easily go with the latter option.

Probably just tried spelling it out phonetically.

I know my Japanese teacher forced us to say English loan words in Japanese the Japanese way. It's weird in text, but it might be more polite to say it vocally like that in Japan.

Man outrage culture is starting to get on my nerves.

Everytime I hear about Twitter it seems like a community just looking for something to be offended by.

So does this mean the Japanese will stop liking Frozen? Because I'm tired of all the Pixiv fan art.

This is ridiculous. In the last couple of years people have become oversensitive pansies. Looking for racism, sexism, etc, hoping to be offended. Don't get me wrong, racism and sexism are still important issues in our societies, but some people just want to blow everything out of proportion to feel good about themselves.

They seem to think that only "westerners" can be racist, ignoring racism and exaggerated nationalism in the very cultures they are trying to defend. At least that's my experience that I got from countless discussions.

Years ago I resolved to avoid Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and any others of their ilk. More and more every day that looks like a good decision.

Every person has something that offends them, but I think it's a huge stretch to call this the least bit racist or offensive. She literally posted Cinderella out phonetically as a Japanese person would say it.
