Ugh this was awful edgetastic crap. It looked slick as hell, but the dialogue and acting was so so bad. Also the mixing was really weird. I had a hard time hearing some of the dialogue over the sound effects.

i Want to watch it but i don't want to be disappointed by it either! Its one of the reasons why i don't watch Firefly as i'd long for something more!
Thankfully nothing ever truly dies on the internet.

Quote: | In his "Why Bootleg the Power Rangers," Shankar says, "They're gonna straight up have f****** PTSD." He also mentions that because of their lives as "child soldiers," they probably didn't get into good colleges, having spent all their time "judo-chopping and spin-kicking monsters," derailing the rest of their lives. |
ToQger explored the concept of child soldiers and the possible ramifications better. And that was a show about a conductor with a monkey puppet, a guy with a rabbit mask, and a sexy robot stewardess.

It was very well made & looked good, no doubt. Plus, Van Der Beek was obviously having a ball playing an evil, traitorous Rocky (seeing as he helped write the short, I'm going to guess he was a fan of the show, too). Still, it was obviously meant to be a parody & joke, like how over-the-top Jason's death was, the fight between Zack & the North Korean thugs (Bullets bounce off his helmet & back into the shooters heads... Brilliant), and the fact that it went so far in being so dark & gritty.
Did I enjoy watching this short film? Oh hell yes. It was obviously produced by people who loved the original show & decided to have fun with the idea of being dark & violent.
Would I want to see an actual gritty reboot of Power Rangers, though? No, not at all. Sure, the series is made for children, but that doesn't automatically mean that a reboot has to be dark &/or super-serious; doing that removes some of the charm, honestly.

Such a hermetic love for Sentai season 16 and 17. Laudable attempt yet irrelevant to us. Super Power Beat Down fans should clamor at the idea.

That's...kinda the point? It's a commentary on pointlessly edgy reboots of shows aimed at children, and also how those same kid's shows featured quite a bit of glorified violence [just done in a colorful, bloodless way]. It's definitely not supposed to be taken seriously.

Eh, an okay film but Akibaranger did it better withthe whole having an adult side but still kept the original feeling of watching a Power Rangers show. I think it completely just missed the very charm that Power Rangers had on the fans.

It is always a gamble. I liked the short film, and I am glad he got those two actors in on it. Saban can do whatever they want, it is on the web now, no matter what they do.

I was a fan of this as a child, and sometimes my mom wouldn't let me watch it because she felt it was too violent. I felt it to be corny and over the top in some places, but I was thoroughly entertained by it, which to me is a good thing. They even state in the credits that there is no money being made by it and that it was made for FUN. Saban needs to grow up a little like all the power rangers did. Even if Saban succeeds in taking it down, the video is up forever on the internet and Saban will probably find itself the victim of a DDOS.

Eh, Firefly is one of the best sci-fi series ever produced, don't really get how you see this as comparable to it....

Power Rangers is basically already a bootleg of Super Sentai, so Saban should lighten up.
