It's like they had a giant drum with pieces of paper with anime titles written on them and they turned it and turned it and picked a random name out of the drum to license.

I was curious if these were even on somebody's radar for a license rescue. Honestly, I'm surprised that the answer turned out to be, "yes." As cool as this is, these are two more shows that have been rescued that I already bought years ago. Hopefully, there are enough people that want these and didn't get Bandai's DVDs to make it worthwhile.

Were these ever hard to come by?

These two should be Lucky Penny releases, they don't really need more artboxes.
Also inb4 whining over no upscaled Blu-ray releases. |

More like a game of questions : "What's Available", "Do we have enough budget $ to license it?" and finally "Will it sell enough to keep us going?"
Bit more complicated, this time the answers lead to rescuing Please Teacher! & Please Twins! Mark Gosdin |

Just found out about this when I got my email from Youtube (yeah I subscribe to Nozomi's YT page) and saw the trailer to both of the shows. Thanks for rescuing.

Not that I recall, or at least not when I got my sets. I picked up the Anime Legends sets that Bandai had back when Best Buy still had a fairly respectable amount of anime on the shelves. |

Properly upscaled BDs can look quite good in comparison to the DVDs. Definitely not as good as native 1080p, but nevertheless a clear improvement from DVDs. So it's understandable that people who have good setups would be disappointed by this. I don't know if these specific titles have recieved that treatment in Japan though. |

Was hoping some one would pick up Please Twins since I was able to Please Teacher on the cheap last year.

Is there really enough people interested in this to buy this as 2 DVD sets? I would consider getting it if it were released in 1 DVD set, but I don't like it enough to have to buy each season separately, especially if it is just getting released in just a standard DVD case.
I see Please Teacher! and Please Twins! are getting released this summer. What I really want to know from them is when they are going to start rereleasing the rest of the Gundam series. |

I always figured somebody would pick these up again -- they were some of Bandai's more popular non-Sunrise, non-Bones series and thus fell through the cracks of the ADV and Funimation rescue packages. And unlike Funi and Sentai, at least it doesn't take Nozomi close to two years (or more?) to re-release something that's already been translated and dubbed.
Currently, it'll run ya $54.03 to get Please Teacher and $93.15 to get Please Twins if you order the singles off Amazon -- the collections are even pricier. |

They did back in 2012 hence the complaints over this news elsewhere. |

It's unfortunate that none of rightstuf's recently licensed titles interest me, because I think they do such a great job with their releases. There's so much care put into the releases that I have from them like ARIA, Tylor, Cobra, Boogiepop, Kimba, Utena, and Rose of Versailles, that I want to keep supporting them, but obscure fanservice shows just aren't doing anything for me. Beyond just being outside my own tastes, some of these licenses just seem so random to me - like stuff I never would have thought would prompt a licenses rescue in a million years.

It is always good news when another title gets license rescued. If we cannot have it on blu-ray then I am hoping the dvd mastering is as good as it can be for dvd. It's nice to see it back on the market though. I will probably double dip just to see the difference.

Wow! Good thing I got those in 2007 for about $30-35ish. Both are good series. |
