I have been watching a lot of anime over again. So I was reminded of all the romantic things that go on between them and all the difficulties. It made me wonder what people believe to be the best anime couple.
Do you think a couple that never kissed (ex- FullMetal Alchemist :Winry & Ed, Ouran High School Host club: Tamaki & Haruhi) or Do you think a couple that has had many passionate moments (ex- Sailor Moon: Serena & Darien, Fushigi Yuugi: Miaka & Tamahome) makes the best couple? |

umm well I don't know. that why I was asking. Couples that don't seem to kiss in the end seems romantic. Although it would always be nice to see that all the hard times then went through they finally get to be together.

well the first kiss at the end is always fantastic!
thou it can get frustrating.....waiting! on the other hand a kiss maybe half way through and then somthing happens to one of the couple and it gives the hero even more ambition to save them! thats good too! but they have to at least kiss once (or let their feelings for each other be known) cause u feel as thou that the series really hasn't been finished. if the couple feelings haven't been resolved then that can almost wreck the series for u! 
eg1. tenchi muyo?! -Ryoko and Tenchi-.........what happened there?! eg2. i could say FMA but romance wasn't really a theme in that series, maybe in the next one when Ed and Al are a bit older theyll use it as a main theme. eg3. ahh yess FMP too but thats really more of a comedic realtionship.........thou i haven't seen the 3rd series yet so maybe im missing out on that one? |

I mean somethign like Sailor Moon where Darien and Serena are together is nice. You can make a lot of nice amvs for it
 . Though after a while of someone trying to one of them away from the other gets odd and boring. It's like "oh no someone is trying to make Serena fall in love with them I wonder how this will end" *sarcasm* you already know they get together in th end.

The only anime couple I've liked in recent memory was Vincent and Re-L from Ergo Proxy. I just love how Re-L wears the pants in the relationship so to speak, while Vincent, despite being this omnipotent being, was a complete lapdog around her. Very amusing pair to watch.

A truly romantic couple is one that can not only get physical and convincingly act in a loving manner, but also feels like they fit well together. That's why I usually point to Aoi and Kaoru from Ai Yori Aoshi as one of the best in anime. And it only takes about three episodes to firmly establish that.

One of my favorite couples from my recently-watched animes is Mikan x Natsume from Gakuen Alice, because they spoiler[start out on a very wrong foot, but things happen... and feelings subconsciously develop. The problem is that since Gakuen Alice was cut short, we don't get to see those feelings come out.

I agree with you about Aoi and Kaoru. They don't just love each other, they seem to fit together and fill in all the blanks in the other person. I think Belldandy and Keichi in the OMG movie in particular were similar as well. |

Perhaps I am biased as I am reading Kare Kano (finally gotten round to buying the manga) but Arima and Miyazawa are probably the best I have seen. It was drawn out through the series quite a lot though.
Ayato and Haruka in RahXephon weren't bad either and I was definitely pleased with the eventual ending (take that Eva, giant robots and mysticism with a satisfactory ending!). I agree that Aoi and Kaoru are a good couple but, and I know this is an old point, I find it hard to imagine a, excluding obvious examples, person I would want to marry less. |

But isn't that irrelevant to whether or not they're a good couple? I know many pairs in real life that make a great couple but I could never imagine myself actually wanting to marry the opposite-gender member of the couple. As for Belldandy and Keiichi, at one time I would have held them up as exemplars, psycho 101, but over time my opinion of them has dropped and Ai Yori Aoshi probably has a lot to do with that. They certainly work well together and are as sweet as any anime couple you'll find, but their lack of physical contact gives them too much of a platonic feel. The coupling also feels a bit more improbable and unnatural. I still would probably keep them on a Top 10 list, though. |

I've only seen the first volume of this series but from what I can tell I think a great romantic couple would be Syaoran and Sakura from Tsubasa RESERVoir CHoNiCLE. The reason I believe that is that Syaoran is spoiler[willing to give up the most precious thing to him and that is the bond between him and Sakura, however since like Sakura's "chosen one" it seems that their bond can break the powers of Yūko Ichihara also known as the dimenional witch.]
I think that Aoi and Kauru make a great couple as well; infact I think they might even be my favorite. |
