I'd love to see the complete version. Even as it is, it's a terrific film. What the news item hints at but doesn't say explicitly is that the film is also a tribute to animation generally, with the style changing throughout to represent changing animation styles historically.

I'm unclear about one facet of this news item. The article starts with:

The link with the word "host", i.e.,

says Part 2 has been completed.
Later the article says:

Osamu Tezuka was able to complete the first and fourth parts before his death, while his son finished the second through the notes his father left behind.

So this means the third part is still missing, doesn't it? Or is there some other explanation? I get the impression the Part 2 has been completed, but the entire film hasn't been completed.

From what I understand, the film is based on movements of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, Op. 36. The first part of the film by Tezuka covers movements 1 and 4, the part done by his son covers the the second movement. I would assume based on this that their is no animated counterpart for the third movement in the opus, but the work is considered complete.

Wonder if they also going to release this on dvd well it's not that long so that might be a point but i think it will come out in Japan so might get it from there.
Shame i can't go there is no way they will do this in The Netherlands ...
