While this doesn't help the English speakers, it can also open up a way for more scanlations. Such plans are risky.

Scanlations requires people doing TLing, redrawing, typesetting etc in their own spare time, and there's already much, much more raws floating around than there is available scanlators, so I can't see how this would open up way for more scanlations.

But if it did i'd be nothing but happy. In comparison to the amount of manga that gets released in Japan very few actually get "officially" translated by a manga licensing company. At this point the titles to choose from without the presence of scanlators would be pretty barren, so I welcome them and their hard work with open arms. Though I can see how JP publishers would react if this brought an increase in scanlations...

people get raw manga before it releases already. no big deal. You still need to spend alot of them to do the scanlation.

Well it does eliminate the need for cleaning, but that's not much of an advantage. Gangan Online's been around for years, but only a small fraction of their series have been picked up for scanlation, and those can take a couple weeks to get released.

Nice service, I'll check to see if any region locks exist for it later tonight. I wouldn't mind a single go to Netflix for Manga though but that's far in the future.

Any group worth their salt works with the highest quality raws they can get their hands on. Having purchased Japanese-language manga through Kindle before, I can vouch for the lack of quality.

I'm a scanlator and would sooner pay for the magazine in its physical form than this, if I were going to scanlate the content.
