[WIP] Studio Wanpack Staff List Changes

So, I found this staff list on Studio Wanpack's website, and it lists all(?) their staff, giving both kanji and katakana. I figured that this information should be pretty solid, so I done mined it to check our encyclopedia to make sure we have correct romanizations and kanji spellings for everybody. Results below.

  • Tomoko Kusonoki should be read KUSUKI
  • 背戸亜味 = ｾﾄ ﾂｸﾞﾐ = Tsugumi Seto Not in encyclopedia. Credits being entered under Ami Seto (Note: 亜味 brings up only Ami as a valid reading in EMANDICT which is probably why that happened)
  • Takashi Mitani should be read TAKAFUMI
  • 金谷 隆之 =ｶﾅﾔ ﾀｶﾕｷ = Takayuki KANAYA But he isn't in the encyclopedia and I can't find any credits online. Hopefully somebody uses the search function before and finds this thread before they enter a credit in the future.
  • Issa Sugihara should be read Kazusa Sugihara. (Corrected. I created Issa)
  • Taichi Shinko should be Taichi Atarashi. previous discussion
  • 牛ノ濱 由惟 = ｳｼﾉﾊﾏ ﾕｲ = Yui Ushinohama It looks like we have her kanji as 牛の濱 由惟 but she gets a fair amount of both that and 牛ノ浜由惟, so maybe add that name as well?
  • たなか みほ = ﾀﾅｶ ﾐﾎ = Miho Tanaka Kanji set as 田中 美穂. Looks like three person split, Painter/Animator/VA. Lots of credits, so I will come back to her for a closer look.
  • Hayao Nishitani should be Shun Nishitani.
  • Aki Kumata should be Aki Kumada.
  • Masahito Hagiwara and Masato Hagiwara both have the same kanji name and to the same work. Wanpack says it's Masato, so I say merge them.
  • Shirou Izumi and Shiro Izumi both have the same kanji and do mostly the same things. Wanpack says it's Shirou, so I suggest merging into Shiro, then splitting it to Shirō (animator) and Shiro (effects). This way we keep the romanization standard of ou = ō and the old effects man gets separated from the animator.
  • Ayano Ueshima Should be Ayano Uejima.
  • 高寄 萌 = ﾀｶﾖｾ ﾒｸﾞﾐ = Megumi Takayose. No profile at ANN, so hopefully whoever starts her page sees this. No credits that I could see online to start one myself.


OK, this one is a little complicated. Wanpack employs both of these guys.

山田 将司 = ﾔﾏﾀﾞ ｼｮｳｼﾞ = Shōji Yamada
山田 まさし = ﾔﾏﾀﾞ ﾏｻｼ = Masashi Yamada

We have Masashi Yamada, but with the kanji for Shōji Yamada. It's confusing because 将司 can be read Shōji or Masashi. Masashi Yamada's kanji needs to be changed to 山田 まさし. And Shōji Yamada's profile is three people and needs a split. Producer (???)/Mangaka(山田 ショウジ)/Animator (山田 将司). Once this is done, we will have to go through the Shoji and Masashi's animation credits to verify which goes where because the kanji and romanization were mixed up for a long time, I'd assume.

And Happy New Year ANN! Let's tackle this in 2015.

I took all of the ones that could be handled by creating a new name and then merging the old, incorrect spelling.

What's left:

Thanks! I'll start on the Shoji/Masashi Yamada problem when I get some time because it's probably the more in depth between that and Miho Tanaka. (I imagine I'll be checking each episode they are credited for, and all the ones with no precision since it's possible both guys worked on the same show since they are both Wanpack staffers.)

There are hundreds of instances, both old and new. It would probably be easiest for Dan to occasionally use SQL to change "Onepack" to "Wanpack" in the precisions rather than having hundreds of error reports or exhaustively googling them.

I took the initiative and merged all the "Onepack" into "Wanpack" in hopes that it would help in the future, at least.

I was going to try merging the two (as an aka) and then resplitting with the correct credits but I'm not sure if it will let me set the names correctly afterwards?

If the editors would prefer, I'll add the credits separately and mark everything that needs to be hidden. I have no idea how your tools work, that might be easier.

If you want to do the adding, I can do the hiding. Merging and resplitting would of made it SUPER easy but because the names are different, I don't think resplitting would work.

This is what I believe the split needs to be:

田中美保 - Animator who works for Wanpack - たなか みほ Wanpack staff list
田中美保 - Model - たなか みほ website Official blog
田中美穂 - Colorist - Current Kanji - No real romanization sources, but Miho Tanaka is really likely.

I think just running down the staff credits list and splitting along those lines would be the simplest thing to do..

Guys. I just had the idea of checking the wayback machine to see if there were any captures of previous newcomer welcome party rosters...

2013 roster

There were a few names on the 2013 list but not on the 2014 list.

Currently Daichi Kouriki's credits have been attributed to Daichi Takariki. I just made a new profile instead of merging, because if a Daichi Takariki shows up later we would need to split. And there were only 7 datum. Somebody can go ahead and hide Takariki's stuff.

Tamako Honda should be Mariko Honda Add credits to Mariko then split and disambiguate, I suppose would be the best option.

Daiki Matsuura should be Taiki Matsuura. Also, that news story on the Daiki page, make sure it stays there, because the plagiarist in that article is 松浦大貴, not the Wanpack animator

1. Hid everything on Takariki
2. Added credits to Mariko, split, and hid everything on Tamako
3. Merged Aoi and Midori

4. Before I transfer Daiki to Taiki I noticed one lone Sound Effects credit for a live-action film. The kanji is the same but I doubt an animator did the sound effects for a live action film?
