...but Funimation holds the DVD rights. I bet they're a little sore about this, but CR must've outbid them or something.

That's nice to know that there are additional streaming options.

Weird, but I guess that just means the licenses are non-exclusive.

Technically the 2 are unrelated. Attack on Titan was streamed by both Funimation and Crunchyroll and Funimation had no problem with giving the series a home release. so there's not risk of Funimation losing home or streaming rights to One Piece if that's what you're worried about.

As far as the missing episode, that's a different story. Although this article states it as being an episode of One Piece, it is actually an OVA. OVAs are generally considered their own series, so this requires an entirely new license. It can be very hard to get the rights to an OVA. That's why Funimation has only licensed a handful for both DBZ and One Piece. They often aren't cannon, are typically short and are hard to license. So Funimation usually doesn't push at getting them since the profits really wouldn't be worth the effort. If Toei happens to give them the license then that's fine, but if not then they aren't going to pursue it. (And before someone says it, I'm referring specifically to OVAs that accompany a series. Stuff like Hellsing Ultimate are not considered in this statement).

Wow I thought CR had uploaded all of the episodes months ago. Well at least this shows that they are still working on it. Though I'm not really sure if this was worth them writing a statement about.

Thankfully I'm still fr enough behind that this most likely won't affect me.

Congrats to the translators for their hard work for to subbing these episodes which certainly will appease many One Piece to have a legal way of watching it.
