Hey, quick question. I am a big fan of studio GONZO and specifically Tatsuo Sato, since I an such a huge Nadesico fan. So i was wondering if any american anime distribution compay has the rights to Sora no Stellvia? If you can answer my question that would be great!
[EDIT: Repurposing this thread as it's the closest thing ANN has to a series discussion thread for this show. ~Zalis]

Stellvia of the Universe has not been licensed yet. Another Gonzo piece, Last Exile has been. Last Exile is going to be huge.

This was GONZO?! NO WAY!!
Heheh, I found a thread for this... I think... >.> this is for Stellvia of the Universe, right? I don't want to make a new one if there is...
Anyway, I just finished this series, and I just have to talk about it. I found it wonderful, awesome, great, ect. I loved it. Nothing like a great anime that conveys some of the best things about being a human to make you all warm and fuzzy inside. That was so corny... I'm really happy with the ending. I hate it when an great anime ends with a crappy one, but that wasn't the case with this.
Is there any word on a 2nd season? Is there an anime? I'm guessing it hasn't been liscensed yet because I was able to get the fansubs fine, but dammit, I want to buy this on DVD so badly.

Uchuu no Stellvia is Xebec, not Gonzo.

I've seen the first six episodes of Uchuu no Stellvia, and I've been very impressed thus far. Sort of like Ender's Game meets Azumanga Daioh. Can't wait to see more!

US tv-companies seem to have this thing for editing out blood and stuff from action-anime for kids.
But i have this feeling that a show that contains really little fighting is something they think twice about before licensing. The american general model seem to be as much violence as possible with as little physical injury or psychological hurt shown as possible for kids shows. (Why the hell are they so affraid to show that you get hurt and can die and that people get sad from violence?)
Stellvia of the universe is a very good show that deserves to be shown outside of Japan.
Now, i am a bit confused if this is really the show this topic is about as two different titles have been mentioned. Sora no Stellvia and Uchuu no Stellvia?

The elcyclopedia has Sora no Stelliva listed as one of the alternate titles for it, so I think it is.
I'd love to see it on tv, but with the main character being a girl, I don't see it doing so well with preteen and under boys.

I've never understood where sora no stellvia comes from (uchuu meaning space and sora meaning sky), as the Kanji reads uchuu and that is what is spoken during previews and such.

When I made this topic what seems like forever ago it was after reading a newtype back issue that had Sora No Stellvia listed as the title, since a lot of where I get my anime information is from Newtype I used that name as the topic name.
