Wow despite that Japan is in recession, I'm still surprised COD: Advanced Warfare can topped the chart.

One of these is the PS Vita one, right? Or was there a special edition? |

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that a CoD title top any kind of gaming chart. Or I must not be looking at the charts enough. Still hilarious none the less.

PS4 at 15k. Awesome. Wii U at 14K. Awesome. KH 2.5 is finally off the list after a month and a half. Good run.

less than 100k and top the chart means there is no competition that week. 100k+ on all system is still consider good for a shooter in Japan, but not close to the US sales. |

Call of Duty has a small but dedicated fanbase in Japan. It's played by mostly gun otaku who like the military gun hardware. You can see this in some manga and anime like Btooom!'s manga covers looking like an Xbox 360 game cover. Though the 360 and Xbone are dead in Japan so I imagine they all jumped ship over to PlayStation 3 and 4.

Believe it or not, it's actually happened before. Back in 2011, CoD Modern Warfare 3 was briefly number one in Japan for a couple weeks: http://www.edge-online.com/news/modern-warfare-3-storms-japanese-chart/ |

Japan loves Call Of Duty On the other hand, the XBONE is dead in japan. Not even Halo, something which Japan loves even more than Call Of Duty, could shift units. Man, that is just sad. |

You don't have to tell me, I know about it. As a matter of fact, I've been monitoring Japan's gamers shifting to western game for the last 2 or 3 years. |

Where the heck did you get that from? Halo's never sold anywhere close to CoD in Japan. Halo doesn't have realistic guns or military settings so gun otaku don't really care for it. People can't use 'top of the charts' as a way to judge popularity in Japan. Japan's market means that the top selling game of week could be as low as 30,000 if it's a slow week to as high as 3 million if it's a big release. Being #1 for the week doesn't mean anything in these charts, you have to loot at the bigger picture, brah. Just FYI.
Western games do pretty crappy in Japan, what are ya talking about? Only a few manage to do decent over there, but most big games the west hypes up flop in Japan. Like Bioshock Infinite and Mass Effect. |

That has been changing for the last few years. |

You shouldn't take ANYTHING Kotaku says seriously. Just because they say it doesn't make it true.

Brain Ashcraft lived in Japan and he's speak fluent Japanese, and he knows Japan more then you do. So I know him, unless you have more experience then him, why aren't you writing article for Kotaku or something like that. Beside Kotaku has some articles that no other video game has ever reported on when it comes to Japan. Unless you have physical proof to back your evidence up, I would say your post is just blanket statement. |
