Hi-Def, Uncut, properly following the manga, and a sort of "cinematic" ratio for a comfy night.
I can't freaking wait. ![]() |

I don't get why they did that. I understand for TV, but it's also edited on the DVDs and Blu-rays. Aw well, at least it shows that animation errors in older shows CAN be fixed (just not in this case) and that it's about time they fixed up Transformers G1. The "cigar burn" thing for the Raditz battle is pretty ridiculous, but censorship like that doesn't happen after the first few episodes.

Except that the cm says how it's the "original" DBZ, "the way it was meant to be". Kai itself is edited from the original DBZ! |

"Uncut" would be referring to cutting out footage. "Unedited" would be the proper term. |

I love how those who bash Kai for being "overly censored" like they claim ALWAYS go right to the first fight against Raditz. Why? Because it shows they didn't actually watch the rest of Kai. Because scenes like Kuririn being impaled, Freeza being cut in half (and then to pieces later on) and Yamcha HAVING A HAND SHOVED THROUGH HIS TORSO were all kept.
On top of that, the script for Kai is much closer to the original script than Dragon Ball Z's dub was. Or did we suddenly forget how DBZ's dub made Goku out to be a righteous hero seeking justice, or how Vegeta became the way he was because Freeza took him from Papa Vegeta and threatened to kill him if Vegeta didn't listen to him? Or how about what the hell they did to Killa? DBZ's dub has not aged well. At all. Even for its time, it was embarrassing when you compared it to other dubs around the same time, including the various Gundam series' and even YuYu Hakusho, which was also by FUNimation and had next to no changes from the original, including the music and script. On top of that, asking for 291 episodes to air from the beginning to end on a weekly basis is absurd and it just simply makes more sense to air something closer to the original and has less filler, dropping the episode count under 100. That and uh, DBZ's dub dialogue was pretty censored, even when labeled as uncut. |
