In 2008 me and my mom went to Japan on Halloween, not only that but we stayed at the Hotel Excel in Shibuya... we only saw two people in costumes, one was a white guy dressed like Kiki and the other was dressed like Kim Jong Ill... crazy how things change...

Halloween is now the second most popular “imported” festive season in Japan after Christmas. Why do you think it has exploded in popularity in recent years?

The only thing is, some Japanese towns pick their own dates. That's fine within reason, but at least one town had a Halloween parade in September! So the people felt they rushed the celebration season and decorations and feel burnt out.

More variety that's why I like it, unlike others which just have 90% of people with the same costume.
