Can he go back to violent and sexual OVAs yet? I'm surprised they'd give another series after two giant missteps.

If I understand correctly, Galilei Donna was supposed to be 2 cour, but was cut down to one, leaving it a little messed up. It had potential but ultimately fell through. Hope his next work turns out better.

If this next project turns out to be another TV-length series I will be tremendously surprised, given the "uneven" quality - to say the least - of his most recent endeavors.

I can't believe a group of people would collectively agree to give Umetsu money. I didn't think he'd ever live down Galilei Donna and Wizard Barristers.

After being so disappointed with Galilei Donna I watched Wizard Barristers to get another bigger disappointment. Those two had great potential but never ended great, maybe for executive meddling or numerous other reasons that cannot be stated. I hope this new project will be great, or at least impressed me in a positive way.

Huh, that's interesting. If that was the case, both Galilei Donna and Samurai Flamenco would of finished airing about the same time. I don't remember this news though.

Here's a Japanese link that talks about it. Not sure if its an official source though. http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-20750.html (link is NSFW)

Something similar happened to "[C]: Control" anime a while ago. There was a weird Engrish line put into the ED of the show mentioning 26 episodes or something, but the show ended up only being 11 episodes long. Supposedly, it was also meant to be 2 seasons long but got cut short. It seems a lot of Noitaimina shows end up only 11 episodes long.

As for Galilei Donna, it's really unfortunate that it had so many production issues. It had a promising start but it was pretty clear the studio was having issues only a few episodes into the show.

Man what has he been doing all this time. I was mentioning him last night. After Kite Liberator folks were kind of scratching their heads on that one. Well, lets hope that the next project he does actually has some substance and doesn't have you wondering if it's finished.

I'm afraid that is never gonna happen. like it or not that "hentai" version of the Kite and Mezzo Forte movies is definitely gonna a one time thing. that was pretty much a done deal with the tone down version of the series sequels kite liberator and mezzo dsa.
