I just checked this website out http://www.riuva.com/?p=593 and found out that they will be coming out with a new season of Burst Angel and it will be called Burst Angel OVA: The Red Phoenix Meg Rises. I can't wait until they release it because Burst Angel was one of my most favorite series. I didn't really like the end of the first season because it spoiler[had jo supposedly dieing but I felt better after watching the commentary. Although I won't tell you what it said.]

I was suprised to see the date that the article was created, April 3rd 2007 because I never noticed a post about there being a new season of burst angel. At least now I found that out so we can have a thread to talk about it. So you guys tell me what you think about getting another season on the market.

that image alone makes me hope that this will indeed come to pass Twisted Evil

Honestly I was pretty disappointed that the OAV was just going to be how Meg and Jo met up with the rest of the team (didn't the series already establish all of that? Confused ), but if this "trailer" thing that the linked site talked about is indeed a project in the works, then I will be one happy camper.

If it is a real work, then I hope they do a better job with keeping it free of filler, as the filler in the 1st Burst Angel was irritating.

You mean all the series wasn't filler to begin with Rolling Eyes?

I watched this series on a whim a while back, only because it was a GONZO production. Needless to say, it's certainly not one of their best. I gave it a Weak (C) rating. Aside from the catchy intro and some good music, I just thought it had a lot more potential to the story and characters, which was a real disappointment considering they had a good line-up of seiyuu too.

Instead, it only hints at any semblance of a main plot, spoiler[ the whole consipracy with that virus or whatever], while doing absolutely nothing to develop anyone or anything beyond Jo as some "cold and brash gunslinger with a mysterious past" and Meg as "the damsel in distress and main source of fanservice 98% of the time" Rolling Eyes.

Yeah i pretty much give the first series a C as well. I got bored part way through and just gave up. The first episode was pretty cool but it went downhill after that.

Same here good mecha action and the animation looks great but nothing much else to the series. Apparently the OVA is already liscensed or something but look at the date. We'll have one hell of wait, I hope that's a type 0. Crying or Very sad

Oh so that's why spoiler[Meg was wearing Jo's clothes ]at the end.

This better be the real thing, cause it's making me a bit excited. Plus Burst Angel was a bit disappointing for me too. Anything with too much fanservice turns me off.

I agree with Tony, wasn't the whole first season just filler short of 2 episodes lol? I enjoyed it though for simple action and enjoyment. I gave it something like a B- rating. I agree with others that the show had a lot of untapped potential with the characters. The plot they used for the "main" plot was really weak. It did not bring out the characters at all really. Heck, Maria was brought out more I felt then any of the 4 main characters. Plus, the whole summary I read in the beginning was Kyohei stumbling upon these girls and their adventures etc etc. Yet, he had very minor roles to play in this show. They could've a lot more with him then they did.

I felt the ending was actually very stupid. spoiler[I mean having clueless, ditsy, uncoordinated Meg dress up like Jo and pilot a "new" Jango?! WTH is that?] Now it seems, judging by the title of the thread, the next one (assuming this is true) is going to be about Meg and I assume somehow about her taking Jo's role basically. It just doesn't seem like it will work.

I'll probably check it out if it does come to exist but I certainly won't be having any high expectations. Plus, I'm sorry but even Jo is just not as badass as Revy from Black Lagoon, let alone Meg. Rolling Eyes

I can understand where your all coming from but if you checked out the website I posted then you should see that it's going to be better than the first season. First of all they'll have their own spoiler[ battleship and it seems the story line will be a lot more complex than what the first season was of.] I mean I actually enjoyed the first season but it was all based on the same story spoiler[killing all the brains but some of the other things they did along the way led to them getting closer to the brains so I just considered those as side quests just like what video games have. So if you think of it that way it is some what like Fable because what the main character in that does side quests only to find out his sisters alive and that jack was behind all of it. That is sort of what I thought of Burst Angel as.] In season two I think they'll spoiler[end up doing side quests quests only to find out jo's alive however as I said before the idea of season 2 sounds more complex then season ]so in my opinion everyone should be able to enjoy Burst Angel OVA: The Red Phoenix Meg Rises much more than season 1.

Well, I'm looking forward to that. I mean even when the first season ended they tagged it with the term 'BakuTen Project'. Even after waiting all these years for the OVA (- Infinity) which ended up being more filler just to tag it again as the 'BakuTen Project'. Talk about hiatus. Considering how the first season ended (I was shocked) I never once thought of a sequel until the mention of the OVA during that time.

Well, hopefully when we get the OVA we'll be able to enjoy that news as well. I guess if they want to do a 2nd season then we could be looking at 2008. Provided that ends up being the case. Hell, I want to see more.

It would be interesting to see 'Meg's metamorphosis. Considering that she was so helpless and useless. And I'm not saying that because of what I saw (because I do like 'Meg') but I'm also quoting the creators as having said as such. So it is to say that it was deliberate on their part. Which is why she needs to have a reason to "stand up". I guess now she'll be able to fit into her "boobies". Now I wonder where "little women" comes in. Again quoting the creators. Razz

I guess if there is a sequel then we can expect more 'Gonzo' fanservice. And more 'Hakua Ugetsu' goodness.

I think we're just referring here to a short teaser sequence included with the OVA. I've not actually seen it but I've heard about it a few times.
To my knowledge there has been no confirmation of another series.

You're right, Revy deserves far better then that lol. Hearing about how the side quests spoiler[might/will be to help determine if Jo is actually dead or not] reminds me of the premise behind FFX-2. That turned out so well I'm sure that could work here. Rolling Eyes Seriously, if they're gonna do a season two then they should just spoiler[assume Jo is dead and move on with new stories and maybe 1-2 new characters.]
