Great cosplay, but genuinely curious about something....

Why are over 70% of the " daily cosplays" posted on this site for non-anime related movies and series? The site doesn't report articles on How to Train your Dragon , Batman, Tangled, Watchmen, Teen Titans, etc, etc, etc. I'm just curious as to why there seems to be an almost intentional push of non-anime related cosplay on an anime site. Again the cosplays are lovely....just don't understand why they are here.

Perhaps they are using professional cosplayers and photographers for their advise. Which is why non-anime pictures are used. Whether it is anime or western stuff, the advice is still valid. That was just my guess, it also could be these are the only ones that were submitted for consideration too.

I haven't seen the film so I have no idea what the character is like, but that grin on the cosplayer's face is priceless. It conveys so much personality. Of course, lovely costume too.

Because the focus is on cosplay, and not necessarily just anime cosplay. At least in my experience, the vast majority of cosplayers that I know have a diverse range of interests, and like to cosplay from a lot of sources, not just anime.

Also, at the start, I wanted to see how people would respond to non-anime cosplay, or a range of cosplay, in general.

So I let the photographers pick their favorites. Not only does that let people see some of the cooler images, from a photographic and composition standpoint, but also what I think is the essence of "cosplay," which is just the love of a character, regardless of where it's from.

But moving forward, this may very well change, and in a couple weeks or so, there may be more of an emphasis on anime cosplay.

For now, I'm still playing around a little with the content, and seeing how people respond to different images.

I think good cosplay is good cosplay, no matter what the source is. Smile

But if you'd rather see more anime, I can make that happen. It just might not actually happen until a couple weeks down the line, as I've already made arrangements with photographers up until then.

Thanks for the feedback! It always helps!

Personally I don't mind seeing the non-anime cosplayers getting a spotlight. They are all the kind of cosplayers you'd actually see at an anime convention anyway so it doesn't bother me to see them here. I could understand why it might bother people but I still think theres a lot of crossover appeal. Just my two cents!

I'll add my voice to saying I don't mind. I like seeing all the different sorts--especially when someone cosplays a character/thing that I wouldn't have ever thought of. I don't see a huge reason to limit this to anime/manga.

Found that odd myself. I assumed it was just for cross-promotion from search engine hits, but most of these are from things that don't seem that popular so it didn't make much sense.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I want to try and curate a daily cosplay experience that everyone will enjoy, so please don't shy away from letting me know your thoughts. This is a constantly-evolving feature, so I will take your feedback and opinions into account.

I want to start by noting that I've been ignoring this feature (not looking at the pics or commenting) because of the fact that almost all of the posted items were non-anime. Easy enough to avoid, so I just did so rather than complain. (I followed this specific one because my wife is a big Dragons fan)

Since you solicited feedback I'll note that above and add my agreement that on ANN it should be more anime related cosplay. (IMO) Also, I mean absolutely no offense to the photographers and good on them to provide material for you to contribute, but do any readers (that aren't one of the featured photographers) give a rip what the photogs are saying? When any of the "Daily Cosplay"s are getting comments it on the cosplayers with (from what I saw) no real opinions, comments or thoughts on the photographer comments.

(that is more intended as a question for readers, as I AM genuinely curious)
