Ah not bad. I really like the style of this already. Can't wait to see the rest of this October.

Hmm, while the series certainly looks nice, I'm a bit worried that the art style doesn't allow the characters to be very expressive.
Especially the main character. His expressions look a bit derpy to be honest.

I don't know which way I should go:
1) Oh wow, it's Gundam: Eureka 7! Might be hype. :)
2) Wait, it's not a sequel to G Gundam? Sad. :(

Might be enjoyable, but I hope they make a new AU series soon. UC universe just has too many stories and side stories to be able to keep track of.

To be honest, I don't think I like the design of the mobile suits very much here. There's something off about them.

This is basically AU. At the least it isn't UC. Or if this is UC, then Turn-A is also because in the Turn-A timeline Correct Century (CC) also followed Universal Century (and technically others but whatever). Whether or not this is a true alternate universe like Turn-A or not, it isn't UC.
Honestly, I don't think we will know if this is truly AU until later. Tomino actually wanted Turn-A to not be AU but be a connection between all the series, but the higher ups said no and slapped the AU label on it. Still isn't UC so your concerns about the numerous stories and side stories are unfounded.

Please, G Reconguista is for all pratical purposes an AU series. The series takes place 1000-2000 years after the Universal Century. All the events about the one year war, the zabis, char, amuro, camille, judau, uso are inconsequential as far as this series is concerned. So just enjoy it.

I admire your optimism. But if it's that far apart, then why even highlight the fact that it is set in that universe to begin with?

I thought Tomino hated when the mobile suits just looked like toys. The mobile suits in this look more like toys than the ones in the original Gundam series. Bandai must've really dominated him.
I wish that bit with him talking would be translated.

This feels very 80's Tomino anime, especially with the edits.

Except "AU" is just a concept made up by North American fans to distinguish between UC and everything else, so your statement doesn't really make a whole lot of sense.
EDIT: They've got Minovsky Particles; that's UC-enough for me.

All I ask is Bandai lets someone license this here and doesn't just stick sub streams up and leave it at that...

Why not? It's part of the back story of this show and what happened to UC was very relevant to this show. Plus as brought up they use similar concepts, such as Minovsky particles.

According to a recent interview of Tomino, it's got nothing to do with Bandai. He wanted kids to watch this show and like it. That's why he made them toylike.

Why does it matter if it's loosely connected to UC? It's so far removed it's basicly AU. Really, pretty much all the US things set after the OYW war are like that. They are all stand alone stories. A few references won't bog down anything.
