So I'm guessing it's still in CG? I've been wanting to get into this series and the compilation movie might help, but if that's in CG like the TV series I'd rather skip it.

This was one of the rare shows that I liked more once it diverged from the manga. I'll look forward to the movie.

"Looking forward to these movies"?
Um, guys... You make it sound like it'd get (legal) worldwide release. Confused

Yeah...cause most of us care about "legal".
Anyway, keep the good news coming Japan! Yesterday it was more Sidonia, today, more Ars Nova. Wonder what tomorrow holds.

Crunchyroll is streaming the series and Seven Seas are releasing the manga.

You make it sound like there is no chance that the movie will see some sort of legal release. It's possible that it could...

It isn't impossible, which means it is possible, but it also isn't likely.

You can count the number of times an anime movie has been simulcast on one hand with fingers left over. I wouldn't be surprised if you could do the same with any anime movie that hasn't had a home video release in the US.

Frankly, my heart sinks a bit every time I see a series I am interested in continuing as a movie or series of OVAs, as that greatly reduces the chance I'll ever see it.

Dear lord.... Of COURSE movies don't get simulcasted... since it's impossible to do so. These movies are show in CINEMA, there IS nothing to simulcast until a home video version is available, wish takes between 4 to 12 months, just like in America. Have YOU ever seen a Hollywood blockbuster simulcasted at the same time it's on the big screen? Think, people, think.
PS: If you prefer to not watch the continuation of a show just because it's a movie or an OVA, that's YOUR problem.

And in the anime I-401 and team haven't met Yamato (in the manga the most powerful and highest ranked battleship of the Fleet of Fog in the Japan area).

I don't think Simulcast was AncientOne's point. Some people want to watch anime legally and making it a movie limits the possibility significantly.

The series was fantastic both times that I watched it, despite bring in CG. (Which I thought looked great conpared to most CG shows) So I'm glad the series is continuing! It did sell quite well after all. I would prefer a second season over a movie, but I'll take what I can get! Even though it will be a long time before I ever get to see it...
