Can finally own the series on dvd. I have the complete series on tape but by the time I went to replace them the dvds were out of print pretty much.

Veni: They're older, second-tier shows, so they get good deals on 'em.

I would guess that these titles are ones that Viz does not think they can re-release at a price that would sell and make enough money to justify the cost. When Discotek ran the numbers they came up positive and they signed a license.
Two different companies with different cost structures.
In any case, we win because we get new editions of these old series.

I agree with above, these are kind of old and never reached any kind of nostalgia pedestal worship. They were cheap and available and no real work other than authoring needs doing.

Media Blasters licensed and released the series not too long ago. So answer to Discotek snagging it is no.

Didn't know Media Blasters had it. Okay, classic shojo: I'd love to see Please Save My Earth and Basara!

This is a good spree they have going for them. The only other times I see ANN articles on such sprees are are during cons and when each new anime season starts.

I hope Discotek gets some older shoujo that hasn't been licensed before. Gimme Hime-chan and ChaCha!
Re-licenses for Saint Tail, Tokyo Mew Mew, and/or Full Moon are always welcome, too.

I will cry happy tears if this happened. (Probably not, but still. )

Discotek, what is going on you are so awesome. More awesome now than ever. I never finished Ceres in manga or anime form but it was my favorite Watase title when it first started coming out in the US (if someone out there wanted to do an omnibus of the manga, that would be cool too).

Yes! Basara is nearly impossible to get in manga form, but if we could get the show streaming or on DVD that would be great. I got my PSME DVD for cheap on amazon (which it looks like you can still do), but an omnibus series for the Basara and PSME manga would make my life so much easier.
