Microsoft be all "You want a new Conker game? Make it yourself"

Nintendo be all "You want a new Mario game? Make it yourself... with these tools specifically made for making Mario games"

But the best thing about that game is it'll introduce all those little kids to the wonderful world of Kaizo Mario.

Huh, Nintendo's event seemed to have better announcements than Sony or Microsoft's full blown press conferences.

I really wanted to hold out until Nintendo announced any sort of Metroid for the Wii U to buy one, but almost everything they showed I want so I'm gonna pick one up in the next 1-2 weeks.

The creator said he was done with the series, so I'm not sure if we'll get another Metroid game. There's nothing really left to Samus' story to tell I don't think. Fusion ended the main storyline and Other M was just a prequel backstory for Samus. Nothing else to really deal with I guess.

From looking at the trailer, it does look promising. Let see how the Wii U will turn out with these upcoming game given their circumstances. Smile

Loved thier presentation this year. Nintendo seems to be the one of the few companies left who realize that video games should be about fun! Cause you know that's why you play games!

Looking forward to pretty much everything they announced!!! Smile Smile Cool

Absolutely top caliber showing from Nintendo here. I've criticized them in the past for just going to the safe, unambitious well of Mario Kart and Smash Bros lately but they've really turned that trend on its head here. So many different games. Tons of new IP and some new installments in classic secondary franchises like Yoshi, Kirby, and Star Fox. Great stuff.

It does look promising, I hope this help the Wii U, if it doesn't. Anime cry

That's true, because he worked on Other M and everyone hated that game. But he was saying that he personally was done with the franchise, not the franchise itself was done. So everyone's guess is that Retro is likely to be working on one right now.

Nintendo did an amazing job today and the smash invitation was very well done.

Actually, it was critically acclaimed. I still prefer the 2D Metroids more than anything else myself, but it was better than Prime at least.

In Japan they generally respect when creators are finished with their works. Admittedly, western developers have no real sense of respect in that regard (Hello, Silent Hill) so I suppose that's entirely possible. Though given how much more Donkey Kong Country Returns sells than Metroid, I'm not sure Nintendo's going to let them make a game that would sell less than a new Donkey Kong Country Return. If they do, I hope it's a side scroller and not a first person shooter, at the very least.

The backlash against Other M is pretty noteworthy. Don't play dumb.

And I like how the example for western developers not respecting series when they are done is a contradiction. I mean who the hell do you think is sighing off and trying to get those games made? Um, it's the Japanese side. It was Konami's choice to end Team Silent and continue the games elsewhere.

It's also funny that your bring up a Konami series, because in the same building is MGS. A Series that Kojima has wanted to end what three times now? No doubt pushed back each time because at this point it's the only game series that makes Konami money. Well that and PES.

But the example gets even better when you look at Suikoden. It's creator left, but that did not stop Konami from pushing out the series with one good installment among weak ones. At one point they even basically threw out one defining aspect of the series.

Japanese developers whore out series just like the rest of them. Final Fantasy is a testament to this.

While I got to admit Nintendo's press conference was good, it wasn't as good as Microsoft or Ubisoft's press conference. Though it was still better than EA's press conference at least Laughing

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing some Bayonetta 2. Let's see if they can top the over "9000" gag. Now can we get a re-release for Xenoblade since we're getting Xenoblade Chronicles?

But lots of good stuff.
