Didn't this game originate on the PC? In any case, I've always wanted to play this.

You would be correct, it was made in rpg maker in the mid 90's. However getting a port of the upgraded version with voices on pc will make it much easier to capture footage and do let's play's.

Pfft, Anime News Network, what would make you think I have any interest in this game, this Corpse...Festival, was it? Seriously. (dons hipster glasses)
That's awesome that it's coming to PC. I liked the first PSP game the best so far, as I thought it had an interesting mix of RPG and horror elements, so here's hoping more people will be able to try it now.

The base game was made was on RPG Maker in 1996. In 2008, the game received a PC remake. That remake was ported to PSP in 2010.
There were some alterations to the PSP version that weren't in the PC version. It's a tradeoff, though. As the PSP version had improved art, but was missing a piece of content found in the PC build. From what I've seen of XSEED's release, they aren't reinserting the new art in. There's also a different set of voice actors IIRC.

hopefully that also means they might bring Corpse Party 2,which is currently receiving episodic releases for the PC in Japan, kinda like how Telltale does their releases.
Oh,and even though the PC version of the remake came first and the PSP port that we mostly know added some stuff, the PC version was finished only a year after the PSP release because it was done in episodic releases, and veeeeery slooooowly; and by the time the PSP version came out, only the first four chapters were out for the PC and the fifth and final chapter only came out a year later and added some stuff not in the PSP version like it was said above.
