Pretty sure it's because Japan is slow to transition to next gen. For example you got persona 5 releasing for PS3. |

I was thinking it's because they already have the engine built for the PS3 from KH 1.5. They'd have to rebuild it from scratch for x86/64 instructions if they wanted to make it for PS4. If I expect any KH HD remixes for PS4, it'd be coinciding with or after the release of KH3 and include I.5 and II.5. |

Can't wait to play Birth by Sleep on the PS3! Gonna be awesome.
Also, I was way more psyched at the KH3 part of the trailer, how come they did not put more hype on this in the article? Back to 2.5 - I am happy they are releasing it on PS3 not PS4; I cannot afford to buy the PS4 for now. I guess this could be a factor in why these companies are going for PS3 releases despite the PS4 being on the market. That and the fact that they have been probably working on them for a while and it would take an enormous amount of effort to convert them to a higher platform... |

I think it was smart to do it for PS3. It still has the significantly higher user base and is an active system. Keep in mind, Sony doesn't just abandon the current gen consoles as soon as the next gen comes out, nor do the folks who make games for them. There are over two dozen PS3 games coming out this week. Also, the last PS2 game to be released came in September 2013  So yeah, I suspect you'll see plenty of PS3 games to come yet.
That said, when KH3 does (finally) come out, I wouldn't be surprised if the remixes are rereleased for PS4 as well. |

I'm tempted to get this, but I started the first game in the HD collection and... Ehhh... It really didn't do it for me. I'm just running around in Alice in Wonderland and just thinking why. Also the plot of the series is just a mess, and I've played the majority of them all the way through.

Not as many people own a PS4, making the PS3 a better choice business wise. Also, it wouldn't make sense for 2.5 to come out for a different console when 1.5 got a PS3 release. The Kingdom Hearts games have been spread throughout multiple platforms. The HD Remixes fixes that by having all of the current games (minus 3D and χ) on a single console, benefiting fans who probably missed out because they didn't want to buy that PSP or 3DS just for one game. |

As KHIII will come out in 2019, Square Enix has plenty of time to create a super release containing 1.5 + 2.5 and Dream Drop Distance. |
