The donut loving Iron-Blooded Hot-Blooded Cold-Blooded Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Underblade aka Kaii Killer aka Oshino Shinobu wasn't even mentioned?

Moka from Rosario + Vampire is his daughter as has been stated as such in both Season 1 and 2. The real question is actually about her mother. Hint: Another "Alucard" shows up.
She does belong on this list for her change in appearance. Pink hair to Silver hair. |

Well Abel isnt , but Moka and her family are if your going with the manga material. however hazuki from tsukuyomi: moon phase is if i can recall. how is she not on this list along with moka is beyond me. also from the listing i definitely get and see that it is indeed in the order of strangest and not coolest when you put it that way, though i would put alucard von mosquiton ridiculous instead of strange. |

"Is anyone really surprised that Japan managed to take the Dracula mythos and change out the star for a prepubescent girl?"
Mina Tepes is not alone. And Sunako Kirishiki from Shiki also has the distinction of being one of the more genuinely sympathetic vampires doing the rounds. Well, I was rooting for her anyway, and gave a small cheer when she seemed to escape at the end.
It is my understanding that the canonical literary convention is that all vampires, by definition, are descendants of Dracula. |

I think that the idea that all vampires are descended from Dracula, even in a literary sense, is inaccurate.
The modern romantic type of vampire that we think of as "Dracula" can be traced back at least to The Vampyre by John William Polidori which was published in 1819, 80 years before Dracula. My point is that you should not assume that all anime vampires would be eligible for this list. Unless there is something in the story that established a vampire as being a descendant of Dracula it is not safe to assume that it is. That being said, if Mina and Moka actually are supposed to be descendants of Dracula then I would put them on my list. I would want to put those two on any list of vampires simply because I really like the characters, but I think that they do qualify here. Mina's desire to establish a vampire community that can coexist with human society makes her strange, for a vampire, to me. Moka is strange mostly because of the concept of the Inner and Outer Mokas. I cannot decide which I like better, Inner Moka or Outer Moka. They both have their own attractions. EDIT: I am not saying that there is anything wrong with the list as it is. It is just that my own personal list might be different. Since there are probably hundreds of candidates for any of these lists it should be expected that there will be differences when anybody picks just seven of them. |

Glad to see Mosqy on the list- he's one of my fav fantasy characters.
I think horror needs some comedy to even things out. Or a lot of comedy. |

Why is #19 a cat?
And ya guys know there's a Dracula Transformer.
How are we sure it's not bloody ultra-rare? |

Are Karin and her family Dracula descendants? What about the vamps of Vampire Knight?

No mention of Dracula in Vampire Knight. VK vampires evolved from humans during a time of climate change. (Yeah, that's a dumb origin story but that was the explanation given.)

In Hellsing canon, Alucard IS Dracula. It's been a very long time since I've seen the original TV series, but I think they only vaguely hint at it toward the end. If you read the manga and/or watch the OVA, they pretty much flat out say it.
I just watched this series recently, and I must be a horrible person because I was pissed that she escaped. Not that I didn't sympathize with her character, but still wanted her spoiler[to die with all the other vampires] for some reason. I felt more sympathy for Megumi for whatever reason. |

Vampires can't procreate the way humans do, but they can by blood. Descendants of a vampire have a strength based upon their forefather's age and strength, so traits are passed down in some sort of genetics-like way. In addition, Dracula was a human before he was a vampire, and sexually active from an early age. He could have all manner of human descendants. |

Shiki tends to be a very divisive series. I was personally very pro-human (). I thought Sunako was awful because spoiler[it was under her leadership and direction that they started turning a whole town of innocent humans into vampires in the first place.] Some of the people who were turned later on were sympathetic, but not Sunako, imho. |
