Methinks the Hetalia fandom has died down.

I think they're still around, but the massive gaps between releases certainly don't do much to keep the hype going. The blog kept activity going for a while, but it's slowed down to a crawl as well. Or perhaps, like me, other fans keep an eye on Hetalia to the extent that there's not much of a surprise when Funimation finally gives an official announcement.
...and if Funi want to avoid the "Americans can't do geography" clichés outside of the show itself, they'd better have a second look at what they've coloured in as "England" on that map...

Is it just me, or does Italy sound a little more... girly this time around?
I can tell it's Todd Haberkorn doing the voice, but he sounds a little more girly and squeaky than he did in the first four seasons and movie.
I mean, it works still, since Beautiful World looks a little more girly compared to the other seasons, but it's just something I picked up on.

Until they finally get some sense and declare full independence, Scotland and Wales might as well be England.
Oddly enough, Northern Ireland does seem to be colored in for England. Puerto Rico does not appear to be colored in for the US. Looking at their microscopic map, it appears that Funimation has weighed in and resolved the India/Pakistan/China conflict with the Kashmir.
What is "WY" and why does NZ share a color with Australia?
Will Cyprus be biploar to represent that he's partially controlled by the turks?

Wy is a micro nation, "The Principality of Wy".
I don't even remember my last Hetalia dvd purchase and I never finished watching it either. I didn't realize Funi was still releasing Hetalia. Yeah, I haven't been keeping up with it lol.

...I seriously thought that the "Wy" entry on Wikipedia was a joke. I have to say that I expected a little more sanity from those "down under".
If this gets an include then why doesn't Sealand, the "micronation" up by England?
Shoot, why not pull out all the stops and give Peter Griffin's micronation of Petoria a character?

Dude..... Sealand has been a character since season one.
And as far as other micronations go, the manga even goes so far as to include the country of Molossia (of Kickassia fame) among it's featured countries.

LOL. Guess I blanked that out. I tried only to blank out the historical inaccuracies in Hetalia but I may have gone a bit too far with the memory wipe. Though checking ANN, I realize that I blanked it out due to the voice actress.
If only I could purge all memories of suffering through this series from my mind but that seems impossible, short of "brain bleach".

I forgot to mention before, but I'm glad Aaron Dismuke is still doing some voice acting
And, lol, okay Echo.

This probably originates from the character itself. The show calls him Britain, which is more accurate than the usual England that fans choose. He's meant to represent the sovereign state, United Kingdom. Early scans have fan translators using UK as well. Somewhere along the line (not helped by official inconsistencies with official works and merchandise, though they mostly use UK), people took on England. Himaruya has basically said he acts as the UK and represents England in addition to that, while three brothers act as the other individual countries, but that the other nations would know him as the UK first and foremost.

...There is actually a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus character. Though neither him or Cyprus are used very much.
Anyway, the Heta fandom has died quite a bit. The gaps in releases, perhaps not helped by Hetalia being an exclusive to TRSI, might have really done it. If the blog becomes active again, we may see a resurgence. I was never a diehard fan, but I still follow it and collect the materials.

Poor Hetalia. All the people I know who were into it just last year are now into SnK, including myself. Probably like someone has mentioned due to the extreme gaps in releases and lack of blog updates for a long time. i'm hoping to get back into it once I pick up the 6th volume and the Beautiful World DVD.

Yeah, Hetalia hype was already sorta dying down when Beautiful World first streamed so it seemed strange to me that Funimation took so long to release it on DVD instead of getting it out as soon as they could.
But I'm glad there's finally gonna be a release. Beautiful World was a little weak on story but the art is much, much nicer looking than the original series.
