I wish Haikyu!! would get an English release - I know its going to be nothing more than wishful thinking as sports mangas don't seem to be as marketable in the west.

What? Attack on Titan vol. 1 has 1,557,734 more copies than vol. 13(that is more than 200%) how is that close?
Not even with the special edition the situation change.

Now I'm still surprised that Attack on Titan special editions still sell a lot. People are being deceived(practically), is totally marketing. They are selling a DVD with only one episode, instead of 2 or 3, by the price of a normal DVD and they offer a volume of Attack on Titan. Basically an Attack on Titan volumes costs around 5$. A DVD costs around 50$. They are selling a volume and a DVD(with only one episode) by 30$. With that they sell around 200k copies more than the best selling DVD+BD anime(Bakemonogatari with around 70k).
Basically each special edition is worth half a DVD, 30$(special edition)-5$(volume) = 25$, making 270k sales equivalent of selling 135k DVDs. They basically are earning the money of two Bakemonogatari volumes(less the difference of the BD).
They making a lot of money with those special editions!

Attack on Titan manga being at the top is no big surprise. Good for Isayama.

Hm probably should have phrased it right but what I meant to say was how from all the other volumes vol.13 will be the one to probably catch up with vol.1 if the sales continue to be like this. But your facts are right so thanks for that Anime smile

MSRP on these OAD bundles for SnK are around 3k yen, much less than the $50 ballpark figure you used as an example.

Only, 3k? Then is only around 30$, than is a lot better, but even so, is still the a lot more than normal.

Kodansha is trying to do a similar thing with Fairy Tail, by selling a Magazine(Fairy Tail Magazine) with the 4 last week episodes. Let's see if Fairy Tail can pull it out too.

Is the Limited Edition Vol. 13 of Attack on Titan the one with the Jean OVA? If so, that number is lower than I expected.

I'm tempted to buy the special edition of Kui Naki Sentaku only for the cover

the problem is that I was already planning on buying the english release and I don't want to have two volumes of the same /different cover/language or not/... :/

I guess I'll make an exception for once....

------

anyways, very glad with all those AoT sales!

So Soul Eater Not!'s second to last volume right out with barely a blimp on the first week... 20K and in 50th place... >_> For reference, Attack on Titan volume 1 outsold it this week and it came out in 2010 and the anime hasn't aired in some time, I suppose there will always be people suddenly introduced with each new release with a billion adaptations last week, no surprise people hopped on.

SEN! Volume 4 may be setting a record for the lowest recorded sales for a volume immediately following an anime adaptation... A shame as I found some moments of SEN! to shine brighter than the main series and the anime adaptation seems pretty well done even if the art style leans a bit outside my ideal pick like most adaptations. Hope the rest of the anime helps out for the last volume.

Glad to see Chihayafuru doing pretty well again.

I think it's too early to say that. Looking at the previous rank (where SE:NOT appeared) it sold nearly 80k and this number is probably higher because it kept selling even after it left the rank.

You can expect better numbers with the anime too.

Just how high are your expectations, then? Remember that the Limited Edition costs 6.6x the price of a regular volume. The limited edition alone costs almost the same as 1.8 million regular copies. I doubt that that's anything near unmet expectations.
