I hope they dub the This Day Aria song. I'd like to hear it in Japanese.

Oh Hey, another post for ANN to use to attract the haters for another bronies suck circle jerk...sigh.
On the bright side, they picked some good voices for Cadence & Shining in the JP dub it seems! Alrhough, gotta wonder, why no posts about JP dubs of other US toons like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls?? |

I haven't heard Ayahi Takagaki in a loooong while, so I don't know what to say about that one. But no one can beat Cadance's English and Mexican Spanish voices. |

Not really sure why this is getting shared, as plenty of Japanese anime voice actors dub American cartoons all the time. Not like you see "Kenta Miyake and Masako Katsuki cast as Lord Hater and Sylvia, respectively, in Japanese Wander Over Yonder dub" posted here.
I mean, I don't get people treating MLP:FiM like it's an anime, I'd think there are shows more likely to offer what most like about anime (i.e. Steven Universe, Motorcity). |

I'd be more frustrated that they're voicing terrible Mary Sue characters than at them being in this dub.
 Cadence and Shining Armor are horrendously written; seriously, that ending? They cut away from the big epic fight so ALL THE MAIN CHARACTERS can be saved by tears of love? Seriously?

My Little Pony generates more hits from search engines than AT or GF does, I bet. Better for business for ANN to report on MLP than any other Japanese dub of any other cartoon I imagine. That or someone on the staff just likes MLP rather than those toons. |

It's just, why should I care about the precious, perfect love of a pair of characters I've just met, are framed as flawless, and who seemingly upended one of the best fights of the series.

I watched the whole first season of MLP in Japanese as it aired, but I missed several episodes, so I haven't picked it back up. I haven't seen more than a few episodes in English, but even in Japanese, it's still nicely voiced and it almost sounds as if the characters were naturally Japanese. Well, except when you pay enough attention to mouth flaps and the mouth flaps are obvious. But even the Japanese-language songs are sung so naturally, it's a wonder they weren't ever Japanese in the first place.
And I'm not just glorifying Japanese seiyuu. I'm saying this is an exception in Japanese dubs of American cartoons, of which I've seen many. Coincidentally, this and Powerpuff Girls, which also have a mostly-well-done Japanese dub, had the involvement of Lauren Faust, who I think I heard doesn't do MLP anymore, but... both these shows have some slight Mahou Shoujo influence, I believe, and considering I remember seeing comments from her long ago about Magical Girl anime, I think that's kinda interesting. |

I don't mind the ending that much, I mean the entire Royal Wedding was A Hasbro Mandate. And the team did their best with the material given, I like the eps myself, like a Mini B-tier Disney Flick. But yeah, Cadence & Shining do need more development. At this point the comics have given Cadence more character development then the show. |

And the songs were so bad.  Some of the worst I've heard. Not necessarily the melody, itself, but those lyrics.
