Mononoke is now listed @ Amazon.com. It's catagorized as anime. Is the anime TV series finally licensed now?

MSRP: $19.95
Studio: New Video Group [now known as Cinedigm]
DVD Release Date: July 15, 2014

Price seems ridiculously low for an initial series release. I strongly doubt this is legit.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's legit, but the price is incorrect. If it's something that you want I'd take a chance and order it. Amazon will sometimes honor an accidental early price.
And it might not be too far off. They do put out those bargain Digimon sets, right?

Good point. May as well pre-order it now at this price. Can always cancel if it doesn't ever come about.

Hmm, interesting. The price has to be wrong (sadly), but let's hope the release itself is really coming.

I can't see any reason to believe this is legitimate. My guess is that it will contain one of the fansubs.

Siren licensed this show in Australia where it sells for A$50. Even as an anamorphic DVD it requires two discs. Subtitles only.

The Blu-ray set in Japan adds the original "Bake Neko" from Ayakashi Samurai Horror Tales, the best of the Apothecary stories in my mind. That's been available on DVD in Region 1 for years now. Its price has increased a bit lately as well, perhaps because stocks are running low? This version has an English dub, but the actor doesn't come close to Sakurai Takahiro's brilliant performance as the Medicine Seller.

The Japanese Blu-ray version costs about $300.

Is there a Mononoke movie or live action adaptation? Because that seems more like the price for a film.

No, it was an anime-original series.

Redirecting to the Talkback thread, since it's "big news," now.
