It would be nice if they kept that character design though, and not "modernise" it.

The movies are really nice but the OVA was really crap so this should be good.

Yeah it would be great if they kept Shirow's designs but nope. Looks to be targeting the non-anime crowd. |

Means this is going be another waste of time. This isn't first time Appleseed franchise reboot that possibly will end up dying. I rather hope it won't, but Shirow hasn't try drawn a non-porn manga in years. I would like see him try move the storyline forward, then get more re-trends back. Its getting old. Frankly, I'd rather see a [good] reboot of Tank Police. That series is fun, less layered than Shirow's other work, and would probably work a helluva lot better in live-action than GITS.

They're doing another reboot of Appleseed? Is the franchise really that popular. I don't think there was anything remarkable about the ova or movies (I haven't seen the TV series).

Well, its one of Shirow's main works. That should say it all. Personally, I liked the original OVA and the first movie. Still, I would have liked them to adapt Shirow's Orion as an anime movie, instead of doing a prequel to Appleseed. |

As long as "them" did not include Shinji Arakamaki or full-CG, I'd be all for that. |

You and me both. That was a great manga. Unlike others he's done, Orion came to a clean and clear ending. Having all sort of fun, i still don't know if anime would be able to capture all the little things he put in there, while still holding true to the story and its multiple directions it starts out with and coming together at the end. Ghost in the Shell 2.0 was good Manga as well, it could gone on its own. *shrugs* Not everyone digs Shirow's stuff. OVA movies their coming out for Ghost in the Shell now are pretty good, i'd wager maybe better than Complex. Still i miss the fun and funny things that were in all that serious plot. Its the balance i miss, fun and serious. |

I enjoy Shirow's Dominion Tank Police and Shinji Aramaki's cgi Appleseed films. I also found his Starship Troopers better than any other dtv by a mile. I am dying to see Aramaki's Space Pirate Captain Harlock cgi film. A cgi Dominion Tank Police would be Awesome.

They kind of already did an Orion anime. It's called Naruto.
