I just don't get it. Yeah, there are the movies, and he got some new inspiration and whatnot, but he's got Embalming, and it seems a bit irresponsible (both towards the readers and the stories) that he jumps from one universe to the other...
And I only hope it won't have the same slapdash style as the first spinoff...

I don't think its irresponsible that he's focusing more on Rurouni Kenshin at the moment instead of Embalming. Consider all those people who at one point or another have had two or three series going on at the same time and set in different universes (the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Clamp, Hiroyuki Takei, and Hiro Mashima).

I know, but Embalming has already been on hiatus several times, and that affects readers. Moreover, before the first Kenshin spinoff, it was just getting some depth, and boom, hiatus. Not the best timing, really.
Plus the first spinoff was a disappointment for me, some authors can actually do more stories simultaneously, but as for Watsuki, he should stick to one universe. Even his one-shots created while working on another series (Meteor Strike and Yamato Takeru) are poorer in quality.
Heck, even he himself said once that he prefers to focus on one story at a time, so why isn't he doing so?

I actually really like Kinema Ban for the most part. I wonder if this will build off of that world or the original version? I do wish that he would finish Embalming though, it'll be sad to see it on break again after it finally started up again.
Also, I had wondered if his wife was his writer for a while, glad I got some confirmation on that.

You really don't know why he's focusing on Rurouni Kenshin? That's where the money is, man!
