I'll likely watch the sub version of this but the news itself is kinda interesting. This anime also reminds me of the current ongoing Cardfight Vanguard.

I guess this announcer doesn't know that "high quality animation" and low-detail CG that even the last decade would scoff at are mutually exclusive?

This title is, well, asinine. Yu-gi-oh already did this genre, it owns it...and it did it better. While I scoff at the many copycats who try and dethrone K-On over in the land of "cute girls doing cute things cutely" I acknowledge that they generally put a lot more effort into supplanting their "king" than do these Yu-gi-oh knockoffs.

I guess more dubbed anime is a good thing (though this article provides no detail about the dub) but didn't those of us who got into anime as kids get into it because they were cartoons that didn't suck? I think so, and this show does not look like it fits the bill. Sadly even the least discerning kid would-and should-probably pick the execrable Season 2 of Korra over this.

The title makes this sound like a parody, as the premise is literally the title of the show. Or it's just really that generic and lazy?

Cardfight Vanguard at least carved out its niche that it doesn't pretend to be more than it is: It's totally about kids playing card games. Rather than Yugioh doing ridiculous stuff like having whole Academies/school curiculums built around card games, card games on motorcycles, etc.

There are no details out yet about the dub staff/cast. When Bushiroad makes this information public, we'll be sure to write a new article about it.

You obviously never seen cardfight vanguard to say this. Cardfight dealt with people being possessed by a power that turned them into jerks because they can talk to the cards, which was for some reason a big deal then dealt with going to another planet to fight people possessed by a dark creature named void who gives you special powers to also talk with the cards then after failing that uses a power known as reversing to turn people and cards evil for no reason other then pure destruction. Yeap, that is totally about kids playing card games.

Speak for yourself pal. The reason I got into anime when I was kid was simply because it was different. It had nothing to do with whether or not it was better than American Animation.

While I don't really mind if people prefer Japanese animation at the end of the day, I didn't grow up exclusively watching that. I grew up viewing as much animation as I was able to view at the time. Japanese Animation, American animation that was new at the time from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, shows from the Hanna-Barbara archive, Warner Bros. shorts, MGM shorts, the Popeye and Superman shorts from Fleischer Studios, various animated Disney films, various animated Don Bluth films, etc, Charlie Brown, Wallace & Gromit, Canadian Shorts, the shows that made what was formerly called Mainframe Studios well-known.

I was exposed to all sorts of animated titles and I don't regret seeing any of them. They all helped open my mind to what animation can do, not just anime. And no, I'm not the only one who thinks this either. Just because you think animation that's not Japanese sucks and know other people in your personal life who think similarly doesn't mean everyone feels that way. Just a little food for thought.

Anyway, I'm little surprised there's only now a mentioning of a dub simulcast for this show. Then again, I heard almost nothing about Cardfight Vanguard getting a dub, not that I'm a fan of that show. Though I recalled hearing Cardfight Vanguard being dubbed by Bluewater Studios. And since that show was also produced by Bushiroad, I assume that this show, Future Card Buddyfight will also be dubbed by Bluewaters. Or it may be dubbed by a studio in LA. Who knows, rarely ever do anime titles get dubbed from a recording studio in Canada these days compared to the late 90s-mid 2000s.

EDIT: Okay, just watched the promo video. That sounds like Cathy Weseluck voicing the main character. So it's probably a Canadian recording studio dubbing the show.

I wonder if the dub's any good.

More importantly, I wonder if Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V will have a decent dub now that 4Kids is effectively dead.

I can see how you came to that conclusion, and I wish I could have edited my original post for clarity before you put all that effort into your post, but I don't think that all US cartoons suck.

There are a fair number of US cartoons that I like. Generally, if the people look like people and the art style isn't a crudely drawn mess of pastel-colored surrealism that even Salvador Dali would say that he's not stoned enough to understand, I'll give it a fair shot and probably like it (Korra being just about the sole exception to that). If the art looks like The Powerpuff Girls then it belongs in the garbage can IMHO. Laughing
