You start with an explanation of your own view and then I'll add mine. Deal? Until then I don't see what you're bringing to the table here.

...Is it just me or is this becoming a freaking guinea pig forum where people come out of the woodwork just to drop a piece of cheese and hope people bite?

excuse me but I am actually looking for your opinions as someone who knows very little about anime and is doing research as we speak. Rudeness has no place among a forum thankyou.

You're better off putting in your own input if you expect politeness in return.

As for Japanese culture being dismissed, it entirely depends on the source material, the relevance, and who is translating it. Please be a bit more specific/descriptive when you ask a question like that.

Okay well it seems that I am struggling to come to gripps with the whole translation of anime. for example- when a female heroine is changed to a male for an american audience (Cardcaptor)- just to reach the target audience of 6-11 yo old boys on cable - is this an accepted practice among fans or is it sabotaging the whole series?

So how are you going to do an analysis of something if you don't have any knowldege base of your own to start with? If you want us to give our opinions, give us a little more of your thoughts to work with. Otherwise it seems, as 10yen points out, that we're being treated as guinea pigs just for your benefit for this assignment.

That's very nice that your country has democracy, but A) We're not all in your country, and (B) We're not in any country, we're on a forum. And forums are fascist regimes where people in power make decisions and everybody else deals with them. Welcome to the Internet.

So we have some kind of obligation to be constructive? Just for you? Newsflash: We do not exist for your benefit.

I'm not dealing with this crap anymore. Locked.
