See, now this is what I think should have gotten an anime adaptation instead of I Wanna Be the Strongest in the World. Of course, it's sort of the antithesis of that show. I think that I like a story like this.
But really, I've heard a very little about this, but it seems like it might be neat. Besides, it's always nice to have an 'anime girl' who emphatically doesn't look like she's made out of pipe cleaners and balloons, then dipped in some kind of glossy latex, like a 6th grade in the horny blossoming of puberty's art project that gets him sent to the Principal's office. It's a small pity that it probably won't ever be released in the United States. |

It looks like a giant guy with boobs and a head that is half as big as it should be... I assume the art isn't this manga's strong point. If the head had only been a bit bigger...
But honestly, an obscure series ending does NOT count as news. There are literally hundreds of manga in publication at any given time, and if you took a look at a Japanese bookstore there are THOUSANDS of series still available in print. With series coming and going as often as they do, it's not really newsworthy unless it's a major long-running series (ie, Initial D's end after 18 years). |

This is definitely a case of "what is this and why should I care?". No wonder it never got an adaptation. The lead looks like she was drawn to be in a Popeye cartoon. |

The anatomy proportions of the starring character are...
...a bit unusual... I'm not sure if I would be interested of seeing an anime adaption of Rice Shoulder after having seen that (that is, if the manga were to ever get one). |

The reason this is newsworthy is because the author is a mangaka who got an anime adaptation for his manga. We never post articles about "obscure" series. |

I'll have to agree. Which also goes to show that you have some very unusually styled manga artist out there. Seems like another story of "big girl" comics. They should do a list like that. Air Master also had some unusual art too, but the main character was fairly proportioned. Except for a few. But I'll admit it's odd. She has this HUGE body and teeny tiny head. Y'know what it's time to have a anime renaissance and start making shows that feature "BIG GIRLS" as the protagonist. We had Pumpkin Wine, we had Air Master, and we had Minny, and I'm sure there are more we're missing. I want to see some kick ass giant women. |

The one in All Rounder Meguru looks relatively normal. But the designs thre are far less outlandish than many.

Sorry, nope, a single-episode OVA 20 years ago about an obscure manga that lasted three years doesn't make this newsworthy. Manga being ended that no one in the English-speaking fandom has ever heard of need to be summarized every month, if you're going to post it at all. Obviously, if Oda or Kishimoto decided to call it quits, or the Shonen Jump editor decided to put Kochikame out to pasture, that would be huge news. |

Yeah really, that OVA itself might as well be the posterchild for obscure and unsubbed (and likely no raw) anime. |

That's not relevant at all unless the manga in question has had an adaption.
Also, getting a one-episode OVA in the late 80s/early 90s is pretty much the weakest possible kind of adaption. The industry doesn't work quite the same way it does today in that matter. As I said, manga series by minor authors that aren't even in the encyclopedia ending (or being started, for that matter) should be reported in digest format every month or so, if at all. |

Regardless of newsworthiness, it says something when the only person regretting it's non existence is mostly complaining about a fanservice show.
It's easy to see why this failed. |
