Big news...I'm definitely looking forward to this now.
Toriyama is the man.

Man, Toriyama's last anime. Hope he goes out with a bang. He deserves it.

I wonder why they say this will be his last. He's still going to be involved in other projects right? He's still going to be working on illustration for games. Is he retiring from the scene altogether?

Well I imagine being directly involved with an anime and just doing illustrations for games is different.
If he stops doing Dragon Quest character designs, I will cry. But I doubt that's what he meant. I think he just meant he won't be doing full anime shows anymore.

I agree that the wording of this is kind of weird. I wasn't aware that he'd ever directed an anime before. Nevertheless, I'm still excited.

Yeah this article is definitely confusing me a bit. Toriyama is not the director of Blue Dragon and I don't believe he's ever directed an anime before...

I really wouldnt be surprised if this was his last anime. The man never needs to work again a day in his life. he's so loaded that he wipes his butt with $50. So him taking on another anime project is something he doesnt need to do and could just retire and run his animation studio.

His last anime? man that sucks, his artwork for DBZ was the main reason why i'm hooked to anime, I love his awsome artwork
Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, Dr Slump
man,and such a darn shame too,but anyway, i'm am so looking forward to this anime to air on tv tokyo, I see some good promising on this show.
on a sidenote, sorry to go offtopic, but I wonder why the Dr slump anime has'nt been licensed yet, I mean, viz got the manga so far .
and if he stops doing Dragon Quest, the franchise will never be the same again, the only artist that comes close to his artwork is the character designer to Beet the vandel Buster
but still it will never be the same again.

Ah. But it is kind of odd wording. But again 'Blue Dragon' is the only anime he's currently involved in. After all he's been out of the scene since the 'DB/DBZ' days. But again they must really feel something or else they wouldn't be wanting him to direct this.
I guess directing is not his forte, but again he's got to have something or else they wouldn't have come to him for this project.
Now the question will he continue on the 'Blue Dragon' game series.

Blasphamy! His last anime should be a 'Dragon Ball' project ! I don't care how it ends as long as it doesn't end with 'Draon Ball GT'

I think you might enjoy both of those authors works more if you read their manga instead of watching the anime adaptations. They are both masters of visual storytelling and their comics don't have the pacing problems that TV shows tend to be plagued with.
