Currently certain links in text, including in the drop down menu and intro text in articles can be highlighted to link to ads, even when working in admin.
Besides making the site LOOK pretty bad, it's kinda annoying to be going through the admin menu and highlighting over something with my mouse and getting ad pop-ups. |

Examples:
There's also orange links in the admin menu that are pop-up ads. I see this as a bigger problem than the first one since it directly interferes with working instead of just aesthetic. |

This is infolinks.
You can turn it off here: animenewsnetwork.com/my/subscription/ But it should be occurring in menus, we'll take a look at that. |

Scratch that. Infolinks links are blue.
I'm not certain what that is, I suspect some sort of crapware that you accidentally installed on your computer. I searched for "seach assist" but that term only gives me a Yahoo product that doesn't insert ads into webpages. Have you seen those Orange links on sites other than ANN ? -t |

I am a subcriber using the fast server and I am also getting the orange search assist links that pop up random ads. Today is the first I have seen them. What other information would you need to help the search? I am afraid to click on anything to see where it goes as this is a work computer.

dafuq?
I can't replicate that. Geisha, did you install anything new on that work computer in the last day (or couple days)? Particularly something you downloaded off the Internet ? Is it only happening on ANN ? Can you right click on the [?] in the title bar and post the link here ? Can you e-mail me the page source at [email protected] ? |

Lynzee confirmed that her problem was adware installed on her computer. It's probably the same for you.
Since it's a work computer, you should talk to your IT department. -t |

Yes indeed it was adware. Was something called Sendori but I could not tell you where it came.
It was only happening with ANN's forums so I would never have found it and removed it without this thread. Thank you!! |
