Alright guys this may sound lame to some but I expect a wide variety of opinions on this topic. It all started today in study hall when I took out a copy of our local “Free Trader” (I'm sure most of you know what that is) and the thought occurred to me about what if there was something similar like that for Anime merchandise.
Now, yes, in the past I did suggest pretty foolish topics such as The Anime Times which I spent countless hours last year doing for nothing, heh. My ideas were limited since I ended work on it as 2007 approached. However I personally think this would be a cool idea if this were EVER to be opened to the public but seeing how I'm not in a business or a part of one that will be tough. Here's the deal if it were to be publically available Cost: Free What's Needed: Just provide the content met to be in the ad, a contact number or E-mail, and the item description. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FOR SALE: Naruto: Ninja Council in good condition for the Nintendo DS. Works good. Please call us at 483-****. WANTED: YuYu Hakusho: Dark Tournament DVD set. Willing to pay $20. Contact at 481-****. GIVING AWAY: December - April, 2006 Shonen Jump Volumes. Email: [email protected] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well that's about the extent of it other than there will be notices on the front page of the weekly issue. I was hoping to release each issue every Wednesday morning. All ad submission deadlines should be met by Monday 5pm. They can be sent via my email address at [email protected] Organizations can submit ads as well. Just provide the words you want to be included and I'll do my best formattiong a space. So what do you think? Would you prefer a completely made up version beforehand or what? As always, thanks for the opinions! I did type this up fairly quickly so I MAY have left out some information. If you've got questions, let me know in the thread. |

Is this something you want to put out, like, in your local newspaper or something? I'm confused. But if that is what you're thinking, I have to say, I don't think it would work. The anime fan community is still rather small and there are already a number of places to buy used or hard to find anime. I would rather look on eBay then wait for someone to respond to my ad. And then there's the fact that I wouldn't be comfortable putting out my phone number or email address to strangers and telling them "call me if you have Yu-Gi-Oh! cards!!!"

Yeah I guess this was a bad idea.

Wait! I like your idea and I like how you commit to your ideas. It's a really good idea but in my state they already have something like that called The Trading Post and it covers everything from cars, toys, videogames, furniture, TCGs, and of course DVDs. Just take a minute to think over your ideas and next time don't give up so fast. |

Different groups have already tried similar concepts on the web: http://japanimation.com/tp/
From what I've seen they tend to get quickly filled with unrelated spam messages though. Also, I don't feel as trusting of something like that as I do of, say eBay, and I think a lot of others would feel the same. As far as trying to do a print version of it? Probably not a good investment. There just aren't as many people out there looking for used anime, as there are looking for used cars. Maybe it would fly in well-tested areas of LA or NYC; a college campus for example. |
