I really hope that there are some good extras on this to warrant the price of this dvd. Perhaps Rightstuf will have a sale on Bandai Visual items so I can load up on some of their releases.

I hope the price is justified as well. They have a lot of good titles and I would hate to pass them up.

I really don't know about this, to be honest. I myself haven't seen it, but I've heard some good things about it, however, even at $10 more than the normal price for an Anime DVD, it still seems I dunno... expensive? I mean from what we can tell there's no gaurantee it won't be anything more than the show and subtitles, and really, considering R1 prices, that's a bit steep. Yes. people in Japan have to pay 100,000 yen per episode aswell as having to sacrifice their potential first born to some kind of giant octopus, but that's Japan. This isn't. Subseqeuntly they got it a lot earlier than us.

I'm all for special editions of series but at the same time make a regular strip down version available. I am certain there are people who want to see this and don't really feel like committing that much money. Hell there are lot of Haruhi fans and even some of them have some hesitation about buying the that extremely expensive Limited Edition.
And like you noted Steve (and previously noted) this is America, Bandai Visual stop trying to introduce us to sell on this crazy notion that we should have to play what the Japanese pay.....It's just not going to work......see the patlabor SE still sitting in my Bestbuy, no one wants them at that price......and I am certain Gunbuster will be the same.

I totally thought the Patlabor LE were well worth the $90 since the extras are amazing. I'm sad that these editions didn't sell too well. It saddens me that these LE box sets didn't do well, since BVE seems to have changed their "really expensive nice editions or standard edition" strategy to "somewhat expensive and not too impressive" strategy. I was really disappointed with the Gunbuster release since I was hoping for something more along the lines of the Patlabor box sets. I really hope that they go all out with Wings of Honneamise and have two editions like the Patlabor release.
