Pictures of puppies...aaawwww!
Pictures of a headless Naruto...FREAKIN' PRICELESS!!!!! How in the HELL did someone miss that? Interesting rant. It certainly does sound like there is quite a bit of hypocrisy going on amongst some people. |

Two words: Country Music ------------------------- Personally, I like AMV's. Especially some of the older works, because fewer people had access to the software needed to make them, they often took the time to come up with a good link. There ARE a lot of "bad" ones out there, but again thats mostly because more and more people who DON'T know what they're doing have the ability to chime in. |

LOL that's some shitty quality control man... Ichigo looks like Igor, and Naruto... just wow. i guess it comes to be expected for such long series. anyone know what episodes these are from?
i have a feeling the flake isn't clear on the legality of fansubs... at least i hope that's it. Last edited by v1cious on Fri Mar 02, 2007 2:27 am; edited 3 times in total |

What's wrong with the BLEACH picture? All I see is Ichigo. I mean, his arms and shoulders looks kinda weird, and his right eye looks kinda out of place, but what's really wrong with it? Am I blind and missing something? O_O

Out of curiosity, is the puppy a Welsh Corgi? You know, like Ein?
I think it's all in his face. (Edit) Ah, now I notice. He's cockeyed. Last edited by musashi1600 on Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:41 am; edited 1 time in total |

I laughed so loud at those screenshots I woke up everyone in my house
Why exactly were they aired out of order? This part didn't get answered and I'd like to know myself. I'd check out the Haruhi thread but I'd like to stay away from spoilers (I haven't seen the show). The rant was pretty interesting. I've never thought of cosplay in the same category as fansubs or AMVs. |

I am grateful to be alive to see those screencaps from Bleach and Naruto. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much!

The headless Naruto is gold. He does make a good point though. There are many shows where the real quality makes you wonder why they're on tv. I figure the main answer for that is money. Unfortunetly if it's popular it sells regardless of actual quality. Why can't shows like Madlax, haibane Renmei, or Tehknolyze make it on to cable. Just aren't popular enough I suppose.

I have met my share of people who hate anime and I think some people's brain's just cannot handle it. I say this because when these people see anime they can do nothing but bag on it the while it is on, if you have watched anime with these people in the room you know what I am talking about. Two examples are one time I was at my friends house and I brought over a new Case Closed dvd to watch, well his other friend was over and he would not shut the F**K up. The whole time it was on he was saying "omg why is there a kid solving mysteries? Those monk's look like monkey's. This artwork sucks. omg noway, lol, haha, that sucked. The mist goblin? what a stupid name." Then theres the other guy who I swear that anime to this guy is like a cross to a vampire, seriously. In animation class when the teacher showed Kill Bill he looked down the entire time the anime part was playing and when ever we were put into groups he would always tell everyone in his group they COULD NOT draw in anime style. The worst part was when I brought my Dragon Ball Z and GT dvd's in to take screen shots for a project. I watching it on a portable dvd player with head phones on and he is on the other side of the room doing his own thing. Then some kids come over by me and start watching it and they are like "hey cool Dragon Ball Z", the minute he heard Dragon Ball he jumps up, runs to where I am and goes "these are the facts about dragon ball z. Thats a stop frame, still pic, crappy drawing, etc, he was using all these animation terms I don't remember and then during the credits while Gohan is walking along the beach he goes "OH MY GOD LOOK AT HIS LEGS THEY WERENT ANIMATED RIGHT OH MY GOD HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA" So yeah there is something seriously wrong with some people. I personally think they cannot accept anime because 1. in america cartoons are geared more toward children. 2. The story is too deep for them and normal americans really can't handle long story arc's. and 3. they cannot handle seeing someting animated with such a real feel to it, I think it bothers them, plus the artwork bothers them too. I mean ever watch a harem anime with someone who doesn't know anime? When it shows the girls naked those people will usually go "eww thats sick naked people in a cartoon. How can you watch something like that." But lets look at season 1 of The OC, charcters on there had sex, and they were only sophmores and you never hear people go "eww child porn". Just something to think about.
For the Flake that was pretty funny. Although I do kind of miss the otakukin lol. |

That is a little odd, I mean missing an entire head, I mean they must have crunched that in at
1. Midnight or 2 at a druken party 'cause I meant thats pretty obvious.0_0. Anyways the whole AMV thing is fairly true altough what I kinda failed to get was the whole "AMVs are amussing" thing that he was saying, I mean yeah it brings out an obvious realtionship in an Anime but I thought what he forgot to think about or just simpley doesn't really like AMVs is that when you see it editied into a shorter version and the Action/Romatic parts aren't appart 30min or more appart, not to mention sometime the music gives it a better touch. So it is more summed up, and just gives you (I can't think of a way to explain it) but for lack of better word a differnt understanding of the relationship or fight. . . . Anyways good coulnm. |

How is the "Answerman Banner of the Week" any different from a random AMV? They both use 99.9% of somebody's else's skill to illegally create a needless gimmick.

Yeah good point, but don't you think you are being a Japanophile and badsicly being those kids but geared to America? I mean that is how it is comming acorss to me. Yeah that kid obviously sounds like he has a little to much experince in art, and can't apprecaite Anime because of steryotypes, but if you were faced in the same situation with American art what would you do? I mean saying that "Americans can't handle long story arks" or saying that like you aren't one, if you live in America you are American. PERIOD. Also Anime being geared towards a "Real" feel you obviously (Or come acorss to) have no experince with american comics. If anything Anime is not directed to have a "Real" feeling but directed to more of an Abstract way of looking at it, what is directed towards a "real" feeling is american comics such as X-Men, and most Mravel comics, there art work looks as realt as it gets. . . . (I am not a big Fan of American comics so I am not being Baised) So by bashing Americans like that you probably aren't very in touch with the Real world and you sound a little to much like that kid you were just bashing.^^. |

Am I the only one who felt like reading the rant was a bit like listening to one half of a conversation? It almost seemed like a response to something else, but what that something else was is not clear to me. I don't watch anime AMVs or spend much time on Youtube, so maybe it's in reference to something that is obvious to everyone except me.
It wouldn't be the first time... I just can't let this one go by...
This must have come as rather shocking news to all the exchange students, recent immigrants, embassy staff from other nations, and that guy who works in my office from Montreal. I wonder if anyone notified them of their newly granted citizenship? Last edited by ManOfRust on Fri Mar 02, 2007 1:15 am; edited 1 time in total |

Nobody's proclaiming that the banners are the result of creative genius. I've spent a lot of time around AMV creators who fancied themselves cinematic masters, and people tend to go apeshit over a decent video. One has pretense, the other does not. |
