Date: 1/30 to 2/4

Finally, my interview schedule of TIBE 2007 is almost 100% confirmed. Due to anime/manga licensors shifting their attention to Comic Exhibition in August, Japanese guests invited this time are decreased to six. Fortunately, some of them are my personal favorites (hee hee).

Sorted by appearance:

By Kadokawa Media (Taiwan):

* Mamizu Arisawa (有沢 まみず) and Kanna Wakatsuki (若月 神無), novelist and illustrator of Inukami! (いぬかみっ!), respectively. Press conference: confirmed and will attend, with no foreseeable schedule conflict.
* Yuzu Tsutae (つたえ ゆず), illustrator / character designer of Suki na Mono wa Suki Dakara Shouganai!! (好きなものは好きだからしょうがない!! or "Sukisyo" for short). Press conference: might have to rush to catch the start.

By Ever Glory Publishing:

* Iori Shigano (しがの 夷織), manga-ka of many titles serialized in Shogakukan's ShoComi, including Kiss dake ja Kaesanai. (キスだけじゃかえさない。). Press conference: might have to leave early to catch the next event.

By Taiwan Tohan:

* Goro Miyazaki (宮崎 吾朗), director and screenwriter of anime movie Gedo Senki, adapted from fantasy novel Tales from Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin. Press conference: uncertain due to the event will be held at the Central Plaza of Hall I, and press may or may not ask questions freely at locations like this (more like an open-air panel than a press conference).

By Taipei Book Fair Foundation (TBFF):

* Yumiko Igarashi (いがらし ゆみこ), co-creator of Candy Candy. Press conference: unlikely to be held, for her schedule is much tighter than expected and may not spare any additional time other than her autograph session.

Questions and opinions are welcomed.

Being the son of a director, did you find it easy to relate to the pressure Kenta Fukasaku faced on Battle Royale 2 when you were producing Gedo Senki?

Erratum: Goro Miyazaki is invited by Taiwan Tohan, not TBFF.

Em, how do I suppose to link the two completely different movies?

By the way, I'll add more materials that most North American anime fans might not be interested, such as R3TW DVD and manga licensing and release info, as well as TIBE 2007 sweepstakes, to my personal blog.

dormcat: Just phrase it this way: "Is it common for sons of directors to continue filmmaking in Japan? The reason I ask is because the only other person I can think of off the top of my head who was in a similar position as you is Kenta Fukasaku. On a related note, being from the same generation as Kenta, do you feel you have anything else in common with his attitude and approach to film?"

Ah, thanks for explaining. Haven't seen Battle Royale movies myself, I didn't realize their relationship in that way ("like father, like son").
