Manga titles that you love one day stopeed showing up. Be that because of a production company that bombed. Or an Artist that just stopped doing it cause he was sad it didn't make money. [What titles do you love that don't come out anymore

WORST is one of my favorite mangas. DMP totally gave up on WORST after releaseing 3 volumes.. I wrote them expressing my sadness and how they totally dropped the ball on the great title. They said they all loved it and was a great title but it did't sell. They think that the American market right now is too young, and want the next Naruto. I think they are just happy with the money they make off of Yaoi titles and gave up on trying to push good titles.
Flag Fighters I thought was SO cool. Iron Cat publishing was releaseing it and they are nowhere to be found.

the whole Five Star Stories situation is pretty frustrating. Toyspress has really dropped the ball on the english versions, they are two japanese volumes and three years behind. That and Mamoru Nagano is just a tad inconsistent in his production schedule. It's really a great story but has become a bit of a treasure hunt.

I have the first collected volume with the Newtype character introductions. I don't even remember how I got my hands on it. I think my friend was clearing out his manga collection. It's really a beautiful manga. Shame about the licensing though.
As for me Galaxy Express 999 will always be a beloved series of mine. I really wish Viz would consider releasing it again unflipped. I always wanted to find out what happened to Tetsuo.

Your and My Secret >.<
I wanted to know more beyond the first volume. ADV seems to drop titles after only one issue... it makes me sad

A lot of good titles that ADV did... They're not done!! Wahhhhhhhhh! I even sent a complaint to ADV like an year ago. No response, of course. I got impatient waiting for volume 2 of R2: Rise R to the Next Power so I ended up getting the Japanese version of volume 2. I know eval-power did some scanlations of R2 so I was fortunate when they existed.
Besides R2, there was also Tengai Retrogical which I wanted to read more of, but alas, ADV never got to volume 2.
I wish ADV would just give all of its manga titles to another manga translating company. If they're having financial problems or staff problems, I can understand but it's not good leaving their customers/readers waiting. ADV should just stick with doing anime. >_>

Aria is one that annoyed me quite a bit, but luckily Tokyopop picked that up.
After picking up the first 2 volumes, and loving it intensely, No. 5 is one of, if not the biggest disappointments in unfinished manga.

Hmm, would it be wrong to post a link to ADV's manga library? Eh, I guess they've finished some series here and there.

It is sad, I spoke to Steve Benett in November about the Nanaka 6/17 manga, which I really wanted to buy, and he said that it was in translation and production when the shutdown happened. Then a somewhat guilt-inducing conversation about artists and downloading ensued.

Another vote for Your and My Secret. At the time, I hadn't laughed aloud so many times while reading manga, it's rediculous. (I didn't buy it the first time I read it at Borders, but I did pick it up on a later trip, after seeing that volume so alone on the shelf for a month or so. I just couldn't leave it there anymore and I finally had enough money to not feel guilty for buying yet MORE manga.)
ANd I think there was a series called Gate. One of those "friends get mysterious powers one day and now have to save the world" deals, but I was liking it. And the art was pretty.
I noticed alot of manga disappearred around the time of the Suncoast bankrupcy thing.

Those Who Hunt Elves. It was hilarious once you got past the awkwardness of it all. The last volume ADV released had the date the next volume was supposed to come but it never did. Okay I never actually purchased it, I checked out all the volumes from the library but that's somewhat supporting it, right?

For me, I guess my main discontinued gripe is still with Viz and the Guyver manga series. Just as it was getting good, it's put on the endless hiatus. Viz should really think about getting it off hiatus, and perhaps reprint the previous volumes, in unflipped format.
Only other manga I can think of is Slam Dunk, which was cool but again, if things don't sell, all we get is nibbles, and fanscans look very tempting all of a sudden.

My vote goes to ADV's Gunslinger Girl. I was enjoying this series a great deal, only to find out that ADV had stopped the series at volume 3 when there were 7 volumes available in Japan. It still makes me mad now even though I've imported the missing volumes from Japan.
On a related note, I'm kinda sad that Shirow abandoned his Appleseed manga in favour of his Ghost in th Shell franchise. The series had so much potential, but volume 5 got discarded part way through because Shirow was unhappy with it, & sadly he never went back to it.

I was thinking about this manga earlier today, and I totally forgot it belongs in this category. X/1999 will never be finished. Apparently because of earthquakes in Japan, a lot of readers were upset at the ways in which Tokyo was being destroyed etc etc, so CLAMP elected to never complete it. Granted the TV series did have an ending, but as far as I know it wasn't the one that was planned for the manga. Kind of a shame.
