Tenchi Muyo was one of the funniest anime series of all time and one of the first animes I saw that got me hooked to Toonami, so which Tenchi Muyo Series was your all time fav?
I Liked Tenchi Universe the best, Because mainly, that was the first one I ever saw, and it had a much darker tone to it and had that Star Wars Feel to it with the Lazer Swords and stuff.
I also Liked Tenchi in Tokyo, because that was the funniest, it was the one where Tenchi fell in love with that new girl named Sakuyo, and it's funny how both Ryoko and Ayeka were both getting jelouse at her. [/b]

I think I like the movies over any of the series. But I didn't care for the Tenchi Forever.
I think I favor the 2nd movie although most like the first. I suppose because I could relate with the "evil bad person" more. It touched deeper than the first movie, in my opinion.

That’s funny, watching Tenchi Muyo on Toonani was how I got started on anime too. I really love the first two OVAs. I think story lines are the simplest and therefore allow the characters to express more emotion and humor. There are also more quite moments that allow for character development. Nothing against the TV series but I don’t think I would re-watch them. I have only seen the first two movies, so I can’t really compare them.

well i have seen all of them exept for Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki. But out of the ones i have seens i acually like tenchi muyo gxp the best just becaus i thought the girls in that one where a little bit funnyer. but the only thing that got a little on my nerves was the voices of the origanal tenchi cast. but than after that i liked the origanal tenichi ovas just becaus it felt like it told what happened to every one and how every one showed up.

You can ask anyone on this board, and they'll tell you "Craeyst, eh, he's a Kajishima hardliner".
The emotive texture, the unflappable art, the sweeping grandeur of the original OAV's as they continue to explore a universe both vast and personal is unmatched in my book. I've yet to find any series that so finely balances comedy, fantasy, and heartfelt emotion. GXP is just icing on the cake!

Brings back memories: With the original Tenchi Muyo! North American LD release in the early 1990s I had to switch between the show's Japanese audio (analogue) track and the English audio (stereo) track in order to figure out what was being said when I hit Japanese words I didn't understand. Pioneer had English subtitles on the disks but getting at them required a feature my LD player wasn't equiped with. I was really annoyed with the first movie LD because they used an audio standard that resulted in the Japanese audio track being on just one channel of the analogue audio track. Hmm... Wonder if the LDs from the second OVA series are still playable. I can't have checked them in the past decade. I've had a trio of casualties in the first series.

I would have to say that Tenchi Universe wins in a close one. Mainly because of Kiyone. I can't explain it but her character appeals to me, (maybe im a sucker for blue haired anime chicks?) but she stands out more in TU than any of the other Tenchi series. I do think that TU has a better storyline than the other series as well and it made a lot more sense at the end than say, Tenchi in Tokyo and Tenchi Muyo: Ryo-Ohki OVA.

I'm going to have to go with Tenchi Universe due to nostalgic reasons, Tenchi TV and Ronin Warriors are the anime that got me hooked along with the Guyver OVA's. While I thouroughly enjoyed the original Tenchi OVA's, Universe's ending arc still tears me up after all these years. Also how can you not love Washu's ego dolls?
