So, what's coming out this year, and what is everyone looking forward to seeing? Me personally, I'm curious about Gainax's new show, Maiking Break-Through Gurren-Lagann. Looking from the production art I honestly don't know what to expect, it looks like it could be an incredibly stupid romp or a very fun, wacky series in the vein of FLCL.
Also from Gainax there's the new Eva movie, which also has the potential to be either brilliant or disastrous. After watching Satoshi Kon's Milennium Actress I'm really excited about Paprika coming to U.S. theaters this March(?). And I loved Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni and Haruhi this year, so I'll be looking forward to the second seasons of both of those (or at least Higurashi) next fall. |

Here's what I plan on watching, or at least giving a try (Winter 2007 only):
Shuffle! Memories: Alternate retelling of Shuffle! I thought the original Shuffle! was pretty good, especially toward the end, so I'm pretty interested in this one. I hope that somehow the animation will be better than last time, but unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen. And this time around, I'll be hearing Mikuru in Kaede. Don't even know if I can take Kaede seriously anymore (angry Mikuru? Unheard of!) Nodame Contabile: Already has a pretty popular live-action series, and is acclaimed to be pretty good. The "music anime better than Kin'iro no Chord", people say. Plus, I'm into both music and shoujo so I'll be giving this a shot. Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora: Fantasy series apparently involving a girl who meets the "prince of her dreams" (literally) in real life. Looks to be a fantasy setting, and the premise sounds interesting enough. What worries me is that the studio is a relatively inexperienced one, the same studio that did Yoake, so I hope they'll pull off better animation than in Yoake. Or at least, deviate from Cabbage Love. Sky Girls: Basically, lolis piloting mechs in some sort of futuristic sci-fi setting. Seems interesting enough. Saint October: Three girls in some fantasy world trying to achieve some goal, I think it has to do with preventing the end of the world. Good enough for me, I'll give this a try. Venus Versus Virus: Heard there's yuri, plus there's Minori Chihara (Yuki from SHnY). Plus, there's a cute looking pirate girl on the poster. Keitai Shoujo: Adapted from apparently some virtual girlfriend cellphone game. I like what I see on the poster, and I like silly romance anime, so this is on my list. Not expecting too much from it, though, and series never look as good as they do on posters. I'll probably watch more if I find more interesting stuff, but for now, I'll probably sample one episode of all the series I listed. And then I'll probably drop half of them, but that's another issue. |

It already screen (Limited theaters thou) in LA during Thanksgiving. So basically yeah it's out, as to a widescreen release I am not sure as to when (if ever) Sony will release this on the big Screen. But yeah I am really looking forward to the DVD of that this year. I am looking forward to seeing how Gonzo does Romeo and Juliet, because of the work on Count of Monte Cristo I am wondering if Gonzo is better making anime's with established stories to that of original series. |

Isn't Sky Girls already out?, I mean, I'm pretty sure I watched those girls do their final attack like 34 times, because that final attack was AWESOME. Now Rocket Girls I can't wait for. And I'm looking forward to EVERY show that comes out next year. |

The online trailer looks great, IMO, if perhaps not quite as "sparkling" as Gankutsuou, it still looks like it will be a fabulous animation production. Let's hope the script lives up to it also - I'm definitely looking forward to this one. |

Personally I am hoping that Gonzo does what they did with Gankutsuou is that they change the narrative, or POV. That at least made Gankutsuou different, albeit it not exactly the same as the original novel. The TV series was great and R&J has the ability to be great. Delta |

From the plot description in the encyclopedia, Cel Phone Girl sounds a little bit too much Rizelmine, but even if it looks a little generic it still sounds like something I'd enjoy watching. Maybe I just have low standards, but although I used to hate them at first I've suddenly grown to love harem and romance anime targeted at teenage boys/adult men.

I'm really looking forward to Nodame Cantabile which is promising considering it's from the same people who brought us Honey & Clover (J.C.Staff, Director Kenichi Kasai, Character Design Hidekazu Shimamura) and airing in the Noitamina slot.

I don't know a lot about what anime will premiering in 2007. I usually don't look up new anime until the series I follow weekly wrap up, but I do know a sequel I want to watch and that is Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. I'm really hooked on this action packed, fast paced magical girl franchise. I loved the first Nanoha, and A's was almost just as good, so I definitely want to check out the third installment.
I'm also looking forward to the second series of Zero no Tsukaima. I know the show is a bit silly and the story doesn't appear to be very original, but I thought it was very entertaining, so I'll keep an eye on this. Another sequel (however I don't know if it will be out 2007, but here's hoping), is the second Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. I just finished this one recently and loved the heck out of it. Blood and gore are plenty but they are second to the first rate storytelling and I want to see if they can keep it up or even top themselves in the sequel. As for the ongoing series, I'm hyped that both Death Note and NANA, my recent favorites, will be continuing and eventually finish up this year as well as the OAV series for Maria-sama ga Miteru. For a US release in 2007, I'm looking forward to seeing Paprika, hopefully in 2007, if it is released on DVD, although the Sony pictures website just keeps saying 'coming soon.' I've been wanting to watch that movie since I heard about it. I love Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress is my favorite animated movie, so I can't wait to see this movie, which was also directed by Satoshi Kon. As for other movies, I'd like to see the next Kino no Tabi movie and the Shakugan no Shana movie which are both premiering sometime this year, at the same time I think. |

1. I'm looking forward to Naruto and Bleach getting out of filler, even though Part II of Naruto has disappointed me greatly
2. One Piece with the final CP9 fights...hopefully instead of filler they'll resort to the chapter page stories (since Wapol's, Hatchi's, and the Baroque Works stories are probaly going to have an effect on the story). 3. The Rebirth of Evangelion movie...hopefully it'll be good. 4. The contiuation of animes like D. Gray Man, Death Note, and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! 5. The Blood+ Dub and Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya dub...and the Haruhi dub is already shaping to be an awesome dub... |
