I'm glad they actually want to get our opinion on this, because if they picked number 1 or 3, I would have died. Number 1's voice was really annoying, and number 3's voice sounded like she was doing opera singing.

Wow Let me just say I will never watch Haruhi in English. Some how in English it's just a hell of a lot creepier.

No 2 was good.
Everybody else was slighly off, really off or just plain acted bad or lost their character voice once some range was needed.

H'i'ruhi? I'm not quite sure how they f'ed up the title...
The second person's voice wasn't 'perfect'... but it was far better than I thought was even possible for an English speaking voice

Did this really need a new topic? Ahh, I guess ANN is starved for news as of late.
...
As I said earlier, I chose number one because number two would be too childish for the role of "Big" Mikuru, and we need to consider Mikuru is a High School senior and when she isn't squeaking doesn't exactly sound like a child.
It would really have helped if the voice clips had included a lot more dialogue and less, uh, interesting vocalizations.

Hahaha, so they're wanting us to decide the English voices? Pretty nice. I must say, the way they're handling this just keeps getting better. Never seen a company do this... they know how to market to this audience.

Actually, Central Park Media did pretty much the exact same thing for their re-dub release of the Outlanders.

Oh, well, didn't know about that. I've personally never seen a company do it before though.

It's good that they're letting the fans decide. We actually know more than the people who license it. In every step of the way, the fans will win.

Remember, that "big" Mikuru wasn't really in the anime. She was in HALF an episode. I'm sure the voice actor doesn't really talk like that, and plus, she's a voice actor. She should know how to change her voice to fit the character.
And yes, Mikuru does sound like a child. All the time. That's one of her main points. She's very childish.

None of the English voice actresses click for me.
But I can say that I don't want to choose 3. Number 3 voice is too low for Mikuru Asahina.

I think my personal favorite, Bridget Hoffman, would be perfect for the role if she and casting director would be interested.
Based on the performances offered, #2 seems to fit the character best upon first listen.
However, having listened to them again, I'll reserve final judgement until later.

I like 1 and 2. but I don't know which one I would pick between those two.

I cannot understand for the life of me why registering new accounts merely to make various points for a single issue is so popular these days. Couldn't you lot just stick to one name and be done with it? Do people just register accounts at various times during the year and pull them out at strange times just to chime into a discussion of pertinent interest?

That being said, Mikuru does not have a whole lot of dialogue in the entire series, but if you take into account what is to come in Book 4, she'll be talking a lot more and we'll be seeing weaknesses with voice two. As such, I think she's got the weakest voice of the bunch, though I think voice four would be perfect for Imouto-chan.
Additionally, since we know the identity of voice two, we can compare her voice with additional works done by the actress; I must say, there's not a lot of roles Ms.Sheh has done that sound all that "mature" to my ears.

Hmm, this is way harder than i thought it would be...well I'd probably rule out #4 most definitely and would go for with either 2 or 3. Number 3 may not sound as cutesy as mikuru does but voice actors should be able to manipulate their voices well enough, so it shouldn't be an issue.
